I seriously cannot understand this obsession with White by some people on this forum. I've said it before-in my 19 years as a Swans Member he is the 'worst' player I've ever seen. Not worst in terms of natural ability or footy skills (though he's close), but worst in the infuriating way he goes about his footy-he's everything a Swans Footballer shouldn't be. Countless chances to impress, countless chances wasted by efforts that are at times, quite frankly embarrassing.
Ricky Mott smoked and drank and was dropped by every club he played for. NOOOO comparison. If you've never jumped from one couch to the other to save yourself from lava then you didn't have a childhoodComment

I think so many of us are willing him on because he is such an open good hearted man who is popular with his teammates and who enjoys everyone elses success probably more than his own. There is just something about him and his endeavour that gets to some of us. Like that infuriating overgrown puppy who keeps chewing the furniture but will protect his humans to the death. You just can't stay mad at him.

Let's face it, there are similarities in these categoriesWhenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Even though Im not a fan of Tommy Walsh I also believe they either decide to develop him in a role and leave him there for 4 - 5 weeks or don't play him at all, this 1 game and out will do nothing for his confidence or development.
Cheers

Oh go on - I couldn't resist....
Since then Jesse was asked to become a ruckman / fwd.
He has never really been given a chance to develop into this role
He has played no more than 3 games then dropped never given a chance and taken a confidence hit each time he has been dropped
This is not a personal attack on Jesse - I just don't like him as a footballer. I fully understand why people want him to succeed because he seems a 'nice person' and is liked at the club - I just don't base my opinions on those credentials. I look at players like LRTand Brett Kirk who you could argue were far less naturally gifted than Jesse - but their heart and effort are / were infinitely better....Regards,

I often wonder if Jesse would be better off at a lesser club, but then I think if he was at a lesser club, playing FF is actually harder because the ball doesnt come in as much, and comes in badly.
If Mumford gets poached, he may actually become a swan for life as backup ruckman.
Also suprised the Giants didnt grab him. They need a ruckman, and with Paton injury prone, a ruckman that can play forward would be ideal. They could easily give White a whole season to prove himself at AFL level.
We should "loan" him to the Giants to see what he could do.Comment

Given Gold Coast lost their No.1 ruckman, until at least the 2nd half of next season.
It wouldn't surprise me if they have a look at local boy Jesse to fill the breach.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Gold Coast have a surfeit of talls, they don't need another one.Comment

For all of our much vaunted depth midfielders, it is difficult to think of more than 10 times this season, playing five of the bottom sides that we actually hit a lead up target, who marked and went back and goaled. That is not to say we dont take marks inside fifty, its just that they tend to be due to great marking, or players floating in from the side of packs rather than lace out into the midriff of a leading forward.Comment

In all seriousness I can't imagine a team which brings the ball inside fifty with less strategy and structure than what we do. As many will recall the reason that AFL experts suggested that BBBH got so frustrated was the nature of the ball entering inside fifty. I'm not as convinced that it wasn't more that he was just looking to hit people but our forward entries have basically been the same since 2007 - bad and in the years since longmire took over the entries have tended to be bomb it long to a hotspot rather than look for a forward.

Our centre bounce set ups are predictable and Hawks, Cats & dockers, in the last picked us off. We were winning the rucks but they were getting the clearances. The problem is they have at least two players with good to great speed at placed on their defensive side of the square, their onballers get in front and quickly whip the ball out to a fast runner coming off the square. We are very vulnerable on our offensive side and to the left of the centre square kicking the opposition end.
Please stop blaming the forwards for the coaches stuff up. He blames them enough all ready. So many times I have seen Jude, Lukie, Macca and other small players trying to outmark two or three opponents because they are the only options long and the ball has just been bombed. It is hellishly frustrating and I wish it would stop. You can't tell me it is not the team plan, it bloody well is because we do it all the time. The problem is we don't bomb well and our forward line is never settled long enough for players to know instinctively where to move. We rarely honour a good lead. Mitch must have been tearing his hair out last week as he led on numerous occasions, got back for a one on one and was ignored for the bomb to a pack. The reserves players set up far better than the seniors and their delivery is better. At least they are willing to hit up targets. I am preferring to watch the younsters play than the so called professionals. Make Crouchie senior coach for a couple of weeks maybe he can teach Longmire how to set up forward movement.Comment
