A bit of Swans love in the SMH

Nice to read an article like that about the Swans that's not written by Neil Cordy, he seems to be the only journo that usually sees any positives in our team.
I'm not all that concerned with how our season is shaping up so far. Don't get me wrong I know we certainly aren't world beaters ATM but we weren't at this stage when we were defending the flag in 2006 either and with Tippett set to play after the break and Lewie and Rhyce still to get back on the park, not to mention Mitchell finally stringing games together in the two's, I reckon there's plenty to look forward to in 2013.Comment

Good positive piece, and a profound call to others to raise the bar as well ."He was proud of us when we won and he was still proud of us when we lost' Tami Roos about Paul Sept 06.Comment

It's always so very nice to read such very nice things about our oh so nicety-nice players. I'm sure the Swans have now forgiven Fairfax over this atrocious article because we are just so nice like that.
Cynicism aside, these five Sydney stars deserve all the great press that comes their way. May their brilliant form lead those more faultering, out of the darkness.Comment

We need to turn up on Friday and beat those ferals!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

It's hard to gauge Ted, Reg and Smiffy because the backline relies so much on continuity of personnel, and they're having to get by with no Rhyce or Johnno. I don't think they're going poorly. I also think McGlynn is playing at his par level. He's certainly busting a gut out there and his goals contributed are on a par with recent years.
The players who we need to give us a lift are Jetta, ROK (slightly down on effectiveness), Goodes and Mummy. But Mummy wasn't that flash for most of 2012, and Goodes only really came good towards the very end of the year (and was missing for much of the middle part of the season). Obviously getting Shaw and LRT back, and injecting Tippett will hopefully make a bit of difference. And if Reid can start contributing a few more goals it would help too, but with him it's more about waiting for him to consistently deliver what we all hope he is eventually capable of, rather than a significant decrease in his contribution compared to last year.Comment
