Yeah, it was a great piece of recruiting, to take him young, a year earlier than most..... For a pick, I think, that was somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MT

Keeps adding skills and planning to a fantastic base of good motor - make that great motor - and football canniness. Wasn't it Roos who picked him out at about age 15? Another legacy from his time in charge.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yes. I think he went to watch his nephew and noticed a young Dan.

Yep that's the story as I remember it. What a great move.

The fact that the first time he got tagged he got towelled up by Sewell (who's brilliant btw) and responded by giving one of the best taggers in the competition a shellacking he won't soon forget, just speaks volumes about the quality of the boy - very special indeed.

Brilliant footballer. Well done Roosey, just hope he stays in one piece, the way he throws his body into the furnaces, Worries me to bits.
