    Just been reading about this.
    I'm thinking that Essendon have carefully planned how they will proceed with this, and this resignation is a part of the strategy.

    The AFL will be looking to appease the public more than anything and if the we all seem appeased with some upper management consequences, they may leave it.
    Interesting that Demetriou kind of called for Hird's sacking, so I suppose it may have a fair way to go yet.

    The longer it draws out, the less people care.
    The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

      If ASADA come down with evidence of prohibited substance taking, what the AFL and Demetriou want will become almost irrelevant.
