For all those saying that Bird did a great job on stopping Swan's influence on the game, I'm just watching the game again now and Bird has been played predominentaly half forward/midfield and we have just rotated our midfielders through Swan. Our entire midfield well beat Collingwood's hence the reason Swan had a poor game. Not because of a Bird tag. I like Bird as a player and think he adds quality to the midfield but I believe that he would have to be the one that would make way for Mitchell (but not for a couple of weeks). Lamb will obviously come out for either Mattner or Shaw and as will Everitt when both of them are ready. That leaves the interesting problem in the coming weeks for who comes out for LRT and finally Tippett. We know that Reid is out a couple but will be straight back in when ready and unfortunaltely Morton may have to go for one of those two. Will be interesting at selection after the bye if we don't get any more injuries, perhaps they pick players for certain match ups and have a rotation policy for a couple. You can't fit 23/24 into 22! I guess its a good problem to have though!Comment

hi swansrob
i can find the media announcement ?
Mitchell on for a qtr would be excellent
I just think moving a couple ressie players that hadnt tasted senior football into the 22 the last few weeks, puts the team in great stead if injuries strike, but secondly we need to keep upping the anti and development of our emerging players and our regular lads in Seniors feel the pressure to perform.
Rampe has started to look comfortable and doing a pretty good job
Lamb looked comfortable and knows what to work on
Walsh had another taste
White also
Incy doing a great job"be tough, only when it gets tough"

I was in a meeting on Tuesday and someone had written POS on a whiteboard in a diagram (showing how Point of Sale devices were going to be administered/managed centrally) and as they explained data flowing up to the POS end point they tapped on the whiteboard and said "through to..." and without skipping a beat a rather stuffy looking, older businessman from the client side piped up (I kid you not) with "the Piece of S***?"I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Very excited that ill be coming up the highway to see Mitchell's debut. Hopefully the beginning of a very fine career in red and white"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Gee, going on Crouch's comments, I'm pleasantly surprised about Mitchells selection.
My Guess :
IN : Mitchell, Walsh
OUT : Lamb, Reid
Mitchell or Everitt to be sub ( I hope Everitt, but more likely Mitchell)
I hate it when the 1st gamers are subs.
I reckon it puts too much pressure on them to have an immediate impact, plus they have to sit on the bench nervously not knowing when their time will come.
Lamb is unlucky, he hasn't been given much game time, to stake his claim....I imagine, he'll be back sooner than later.
If Mattner or Shaw get selected, then I suppose Rampe will make way...or perhaps Everitt.
PS: Kennedy had an unspecified weight room injury last week, and was well below his best.....You don't suppose he's out this week???Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

This year has been a revelation.
Last year our fringe players were TDL, Spranger, and White. All at an age, where they had reached their peak and so fringe was the best they could acheive. Now we shipped a few of them off, suddenly young kids are stepping up and doing the same job, expect their peak is still yet to come.
List renewal is very important.Comment

True, but you have to give them time to fail or succeed. And even from this crop some won't make it. Its the circle of life.... A whim away a whim away....
Spangher not injured I think could have carved a niche with us....Comment
