Sydney Swans set the defensive standard in the AFL - even without four stars

EXTRA homework and meetings are the reasons the Sydney Swans defence remains the No.1-ranked back six in the AFL despite losing four members of their premiership combination to injury this season.
There is nothing random about the rag-tag recycled Swans defence, remaining the hardest nut to crack in the AFL despite having to find replacements for Alex Johnson (knee), Rhyce Shaw (pelvis), Lewis Roberts-Thomson and Marty Mattner (hip), who is still a small chance to return against the Crows in Adelaide on Saturday.

I know it says Rampe is filling in for AJ, but for the last fortnight I think 'Dre has filled in for AJ, Rampe for Mattner and McV for Shaw.

Thanks, I was trying to fix the double posting issue last night, and it ended up stopping ALL posts. Whoops.
Still some issues, but will try and sort though it. A bit time consuming.

I've now got "reply with quote" back.

On our defence. I think it says a lot about the quality of the Swans system and the Bloods culture.

Similarly to good business systems and knowledge management, the processes are in place and the roles and responsibilities are defined (although specifics change from match to match). This means that just about anyone with the required level of skills can slot back there, log into the system, access the acquired IP and get the job done.

Similarly to a good corporate culture, everyone is pulling in the same direction. As Blood brothers, the players will do whatever it takes to perform their role and get the job done.

Under instruction from the coaching staff, perhaps even Big Al and Billy Ray could keep the opposition score to a minimum if required.

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
