Colless on GWS & the Buddy effect

Colless talks to the Hun about GWS. Nothing unexpected but in light of the Kennett and Collins comments it's good to hear from one who actually knows about AFL in Sydney.

He says GWS will take a lot of time and money and there's no visible demand for the game.

But he says Buddy could have a huge Lockett-like impact.

What he really thinks about GWS:

Asked about his club's relationship with GWS in their second season, Colless said: "I don't want to say we don't take much notice of them, because we truly respect how hard it is, but we've got our own activities to pursue.

Focussing on doing things right in your own club. There's some advice that some club presidents in Melbourne should heed.

Up until last week , I would share your sentiments .Surprisingly, though, it's advice which Richard Colless, too, should heed :

I love what he has done for the club and he has my heartfelt eternal gratitude. But it looks like he is letting loose , as his time here draws to a close.

Whatever , commenting on matters at other clubs which do not concern us at all is most un-Swans-like.

I think he is looking after the club with his comments. He doesn't want to see money and concessions go to other clubs when that might set a precedent that could cost us down the line with lesser access to draft picks etc.
