    Oldest Living Swan, no more

The Sydney Swans are mourning the loss of former South Melbourne player Sydney Young who sadly passed away on Saturday.

The 95-year-old, who passed away peacefully at his home in Perth, was the Swans? oldest surviving player.

I know some people think it's backwards looking, but I am massively happy about the way the Swans make efforts to connect with past players.

Well played Sydney. Oh the irony of his name.

This sad announcement begs the question; Who is now the oldest surviving Swans player?

They do have a past players "club" which looks after the old players. I think it was John Heriot that established it some years ago.

          Billy Williams is 88
Col Churchett was definitely alive last year at 87 in Adelaide ... though his health was declining a little
Frank Cook was alive a few years ago in a nursing home in Melb ... he'd be 92 if he's still with us.
