    A Fellow Worth Knowing About

I can't help warming to this remarkable chronicler of our game. I bet a lot of R&Wers would agree with him on its management.

Footy's prolific Pom: 2.8 million words & counting
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Sorry that I only stumbled across this article now. Thanks for posting it. I always loved Full Points Footy and its successor, australianfootball.com. John Devaney's philosophy of footy and its history is as admirable as his obsessiveness is (to use a British word) barmy.

I liked the reference to Aussie Rules as God's Own Game. So much for the other codes that have claims to being "the greatest game of all" or "the game they play in heaven". Hah.
Also, he's quite correct about how we all seem to call aussie rules or Australian Rules football by the very generic description "AFL".
