    Roosy to GWS

Not quite a Swannies thread, but Roosy being our guy I thought this is worthy of discussion. Everyone in the media is going on about Roos going to Melbourne or WC as a coach. My money is on Roos going to coach GWS???

Watching and listening to Roos on Fox answering questions, he`s carefull when answering questions about Melbourne?????????????????

    I`ve got a feeling.......

Would be awkward for Leon Cameron since they've already appointed him head coach for next year

        Very short thread.

Got any other feelings we should know about?!?

I'm not sure Roosy's next role in footy will be as a head coach. Administrative? Probably not. Mentor and strategist? Maybe. Clubs do, and will continue to, pay good money to have wise boffins in their corner in any number of roles.

If Roos doesn't want to leave Sydney and the AFL want to give their huge investment every chance of bearing fruit, GWS is not out of the question. However, it is unlikely.

Sydney also already had a new head coach signed up when Roosy was given the job.

              Roosy has form there, though.

              SNAP!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think Roos was most likely to goto Brisbane and ive heard they were in serious chats, that is until the Lions came back and beat Geelong after being 52 points down, until then Voss's papers were marked but throw in also there good win against North and the club is in a place like we were when Roos took over, the fans want Voss overwelmingly. Leon Cameron is a lock for gws,he basically is the coach already. Melbourne wont happen just because well they are Melbourne ;]. If Roos was to coach next year it would have to be the Eagles id say. Just down the road from his good mate Ross Lyon. The question is do they have the cash and list to entice Roos? Id say he would prefer to be away from Victoria if he was to go again,so could suit.

I just can`t see Roos bringing his family all the way to live in Perth. (Don`t get me wrong here. Perth is great) but his boys are ?? 15-16? They`ve grown up in Sydney. Big move...........

One is 18 or 19 (he was draft age last year). The other is just a year younger, maybe two. If the younger one finishes school this year it's probably not that big a deal.

But more to the point, if you take on face value what Roos is saying publicly, at the moment he has no interest in becoming a senior coach again. He has ruled out that he might change his mind at some future date but doesn't sound like he's actively putting himself out there for jobs right now.

The way he's ducking around questions of his possible coaching future, with his "at the moment" responses, makes me more convinced he has his eyes on the Lions job.

He just needs to wait for the Voss scenario to play out.

It will be truly amazing if they give Voss an extension....but if they win another 4 odd games, they just might....ahhh the favourite son syndrome.

If Roos does want to coach, he may as well wait until an opportunity comes up with a team better then the Dees. There always seems to be 2-3 openings each year.

If Hird gets the boot, then Essendon would be a plum job.

If Hird gets the boot, there'll probably be a host of players suspended for two years as well. I suspect the Dees would be a better option. There's more upside to a failing team too (vis a vis Hinkley) - take on a moderately successful team and you risk heading south and destroying your reputation. Did someone say Malthouse?
