I reckon Rhyce is a chance as a sub and he'd be pretty good too.

I think they play different roles anyway - Macca has been the calm, precise ball distributor setting up play. As much as we love Rhyce, I don't think of the words 'calm' and 'precise' when I think of him....... Still I can't wait for him to come back....

I think Macca at hb has been one of the reasons for our success this year. He and Mal are the best distributors in the team and set up play again and again. I would prefer them to Rhys's manic running in circles then mad dash through the line to kick it out of bounds on the full (as much as I love watching him).

Agree. Macca and Mal are hitting targets out of defence or banging long out of the danger zone when under pressure.
McVeigh, especially, has been revelling in his role, and cleans up a lot of dangerous ball, when no one else seems to be able to.

Very true hot potato. But even a 25% fit but able to play Goodes would walk into the team at the pointy end of the season. Don't underestimate the value of permanent class that he brings to the team.

don't underestimate the importance of Shaw's ability to break the line with footspeed. It was a key part of our flag win last year, and will prove very helpful again this year. Its a different style of breaking the line than that of McVeigh and Malceski, but as important to the team as what they have provided. When it comes to the big games, you need a plan B, in case plan A gets snuffed out by the opposition.

While his footskills have been a huge asset down back, I think Macca was moved down there initially because of his footspeed. With Armstrong down there instead of Shaw we looked slow and Macca redressed that deficiency.

Swans performances like the Weagles beg the following questions:

Come finals time, with no margin for error, would you rather have:

              - An in-form White or an out-of-form Reid?
              - An in-form White or an out-of-form Goodes?
              - An in-form Brandon Jack or an out-of-form Jetta?
              - An in-form Rohan or an out-of-form Jetta?
              - An in-form Everitt or an out-of-form LRT?
Good qns I think. Goodes comes back whatever, and Jetta provides real X-factor, but the Reid vs White and Everitt vs LRT are much harder discussions - the reality is that if Goodes returns there may be no room for either of Reid or White, and there is a strong likelihood we won't see either of Reid or LRT for the rest of 2013 in any event.

While I have really enjoyed watching Everitt's rise, from 'also ran', to damaging back pocket player. He's been really good.

Go back and have a look at LRT in last years GF. His attack on the ball, and man, at the contest..his combativeness.... was second to none.

If he doesn't play again this year, he will be sorely missed when the serious footy gets played in September.

The problem with Reid is that he rarely seems to be in form and almost never dominates, and the notion that he'll come in for the most hardcore games of the year really disturbs me. People always use his age as an excuse, but I'm sorry, if you look at Darling and Cameron, they are a lot more dangerous prospects than Reid usually is. Reid needs to spend time in the reserves until he is beating down the door of selection and demanding a place, just like Morton and White have had to, keeping in mind that 9-goal hauls and the like often didn't help those guys at all. At the moment, White seems like a far more imposing and dangerous player than Reid, especially for the upcoming finals series.

I agree. If White keeps up his current form, it'd be a discredit to the team and the 'play your role/take your chances' ethos if he were to be dropped in favour of Reid when Reid hasn't played in months and was in indifferent form before he was injured.

                        Unlikely to return this year.
Injury Update: Doubts over LRT - SYDNEYSWANS.com.au

The popular utility first injured his knee against Geelong in round four, requiring surgery.

It was then discovered there was more floating cartilage in the knee than initially thought, with the club's medical staff admitting his recovery time was unpredictable.

Still unable to run, the odds of the two-time Premiership winner returning this year are lengthening, although coach John Longmire hasn't given up hope.

I am anything but a White fan but I have to agree with this.
I begrudgingly admit White was very good on Sunday, particularly when the heat was on and it would fly in the face of the famed Bloods culture to bring Sammy straight back in at Whites expense.
Of course the big proviso is that White keeps playing the way he has been, which has been his big problem in the past.

Even say if both fully fit, White plus down more diificult marks , drills the ball more accurately . I'm backing Jesse .
