    Kelli Underwood

Was watching The Back Page last night and Kelli Underwood was on. Still remember her call when Lewis Jetta kicked his 1st goal. I thought she was a good commentator, but her voice was a little annoying (although not in the same league as when BT calls, he is just bad). At least Kelli talked about the match that was going on.

She's across most things, has a fab smile and is very good on TBP.

I'm with you guys. I thought she was hounded off calling by the over whelming testosterone charged men in that caper. Granted that her voice was a bit harsh at footy calling intensity, but there are plenty worse men around.
I really enjoy her on TBP, and also saw her on some other footy show the other day.
She still has a future, just needs to get past the McGuire morons.

She knows her stuff and is generally very personable. Unfortunately (and this is NOT a gender thing) she is incredibly nasal and that is what puts me, and many others I suspect, off. Even on The Back Page I find her tones difficult to listen to. She sounds like a horse racing caller. This is not about accent, because I'm not an advocate for plummy, posh tones necessarily, but her sound is really off-putting, which is a shame because I like her otherwise.

Yep you nailed it Doc, exactly what drives me batty about her. If they could dub her voice, she would be fantastic.

She would probably benefit from a bit of work with a speech therapist, as other public figures have done. I suspect Martin Ferguson had a bit of this input and it made him much more comprehensible. My hunch is that Kelli needs to speak further forward and use teeth, tonguetip and lips more in order to be clearer and less nasal. As the Italian singing teacher famously said to Joan Sutherland and Beverly Sills, "On ze teets!"
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
