    Open Pyke - episode #1

Watch it here, as the Pykester finds that Nick Smith didn't want to come to Sydney.

Here's hoping he signs a new contract soon and continues his stella career as a Swan.

      Both very nervous.

Took Smith a long time to break into the seniors permanently (got his chance due to injuries), but once he did he's never looked back.

What a great set; sensational fireplace.

It looks so like a house I was once lucky enough to live in in Whistler, British Columbia when Canada hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. Surely our Canadian doesn't live like that in Sydney?

          That was beautifully awkward!!

Nice start, and should pick up once Pykey gets into the banter a bit more instead of just firing off questions. He could do worse than to interview Teddy next

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

The title Open Mike would have worked just as well.

I wonder if he actually knew what a leg spinner was.

I love Nick Smith as a Swans player ? but perhaps I would have loved him even more if he had gone on with the leg spin bowling given how badly the Oz cricketers are doing. The AFL being able to attract some of the best athletes, who have to choose at an early age which sport they want to try to turn into a professional career, is one of the many theories put forward for Australia struggling to produce outstanding cricketers as we did in the past. Possibly Nick is an example of that.

The short sleeves and the computer fire in background was a bit distracting. Actually the sleeves were more so. Perhaps ditch short sleeves. Go for No Shirt look instead?

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Naff but brilliant at the same time. I love that the club and the players do this stuff for the supporters. Pyke's "excellent" after most of the answers from Smith was great. Highlight for me was Nick's big "Open Poike" at about 20s in. Cracking Vic accent that!
