At the ground, it seemed very full with few empty seats.

I make it to most games but my daughter had a camp that weekend so my wife had to pick her up hence two empty seats next to me! Most people with lives have commitments.

The most interesting observation was from Horse after the game where he said, to paraphrase:

        * none of the injured blokes have even started proper training (ie: team training, as opposed to a few laps) and
        * he's happy with the way the 'replacements' are going (ie: Jed, Jesse etc).

I've said before - don't expect to see Jetta this year, Reid only as an emergency measure if another tall back went down, and Goodes is the one they may, and I only mean may, gamble on.

It's most likely the 22 on the weekend, plus Mitchell and BJ, from here on in.

We'll be looking pretty good I think if Goodes makes a return. All positions are covered for, like-for-like. Rohan is one of the most important players in the team now. He needs to play full games, not as sub. The thought of BJ in the 2013 GF is not appealing, nor a smart option.

I forgot to mention......... yest for me I was equally watching our general attitude / body language ........ after the way some of our snr players carried themselves against the pies the week before which appeared a real concern !

starting with the young ones .....Rampe, Luke Parker, Lambie and Jessie white were extremely enthusiastic yest - I saw all 4 of them running up to high 5 and slap their team mates on the back. Parker was even clapping his team mates on the bench !!!

Luke was encouraging Rohan to keep cool.....as Gazza was madly waiting to get on the field.

Luke even ran over from a distance to congrat Gaz on his pass to Mcglynn !

Macca, Rok and Jack were composed and not cranky.......of the snr guys Shaw was a bundle of enthusiasm and is such an integral voice on our field above all his other qualities !

I am so glad Shaw is back and despite him gasping for air within mins of the last qtr when he was dragged he just is an epicentre of thought, accountability and encouragement.

Our last qtr wasnt great re attitude through action..........but Tip went off......white shined in his absence......Shaw was off........Garry was gasping after sprints

2 on the bench basically in the final qtr is always tough.

I was happy despite it not looking like the intensity and clinical footy i wanted - it wasnt to far off !

Jack went into the backs for a large portion of the last qtr - which was also interesting !

But I am merely making a point, that if we have 26,000 v 'aints at Homebush, there would be certain chardonay sippers having a little temper tanty on here.

Poor crowd irrespective of ground. Should be pulling 30,000 minimums after a flag, even against the Suns.
The point is Barry...Most on here much prefer the SCG...End of story...

Would be nice if we could get the SCG to stock a nice dry Ros? for the warmer day games.

I dont think that assumption holds water.

26,000 for the last SCG game for the year, suggest it is not that preferable at all.

There's a great Sancerre Ros? I'd recommend. Nice to sip in the sunshine watching Stephen Milne being booed.

For those of us that are not big wine drinkers, could we perhaps have a range of jugs of Pimms and Lemonade, Vodka and Cranberry, Mint Juleps and good old G & Ts? Maybe that's what the good people of ANZ Stadium need to offer to get me back next year.

Back on the footy, a few observations:

                            1. The returning veterans demonstrated why they need to be in the team. While Mal and McVeigh have been playing well, you can't compare to Rhyce's run off half-back. Benny also added the passion and pressure that he lacked last week.
                            2. Rampe is awesome! His cover and spoils saved us so many times. Forget u23 AA. If he keeps this up, he'll be in the real AA.
                            3. The forward pressure was excellent. There were numerous times where St Kilda simply couldn't find a way out of their defensive 50.
                            4. Jesse moves fast and over long distances to apply defensive pressure. On top of his attacking flair and big marks, can't see why he won't be in the finals team regardless of who's fit.
                            5. Our tall forwards seem to have de-conflicted. They don't seem to be getting in each others way anymore, but are taking some great marks. Ominous stuff!
                            6. We need more speed to cause some damage through the middle. Hope Rohan builds on this week and gets a full game.
                            7. Joey had a blinder, but the remainder of the midfield weren't there for a lot of the match. I hope they rest up and hit the game hard next week. A fresh Titchell will be invaluable!

IIRC ROK had a rest day at around this time last year. Looked like he and Jack were coasting.

Sure is. It was fascinating to watch how he stayed back from his man - didn't try to tag him close but kept space and then charged for great spoils. My new fave player.
