LRT hasn't played since Round 4, it's a gigantic risk for a normal game let alone a cutthroat final where there are also other half fit players. He is no chance IMHO.

I feel better after reading this article. I am not giving up hope for our back-to-back challenge just yet.

Our Humpty Dumpty is a pretty impressive young man and heading to be yet another entry in my log of all-time favourite Swans. At the current rate he'll be playing his 300th at 28. That's Bartlett-ish.

Regretfully I agree, especially if Kreuzer is not playing. If he were, you might justify LRT's selection by posting him down back on whichever tall ends up there, but without Kreuzer that looks less likely. Even if LRT had played last week I'd have him in for Dre, but time has limited our chances.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Whatever side they pick there will be unfit players. McVeigh, Bolton,Rohan, Jetta, Hannebury, LRT, Mummy, Smith, Morton and Goodes are all suspect to some extent and they're only the ones we know about. Some or most of them are going to play, its just a matter of picking the right ones.

I'm really glad I don't have to pick this team today. I'll not be happy if we lose this, might have to have a few bucks on Carlton to soften the blow if the unthinkable happens.

Yep, no matter what the players or coaches or newspapers or whatever says, you could see by the second half of last weeks game that our boys are out on their feet and no matter what team they pick tonight, at least half of it is going to be injured/not match fit/ exhausted.
I have no great expectations for Saturday night and whilst a loss and out in straight sets would be very sad, I still think we've put up an admirable flag defence and I feel we'll be a formidable opponent for a few years to come.

If anyone's interested Carlton are $3.20 on Sportsbet which is very good value I reckon.

I didn't like the sound of this tweet from just a minute ago.

                "Adam Curley ?@AdamCurleyFox 1m
Gary Rohan very proppy at Swans training, unlikely, McVeigh also in doubt, Goodes looks ready to go #swans @FOXSportsNews"

No injured players this week please. Obviously don't want to get ahead of ourselves but I think we can beat the Blues without a few 1st 22 players. TRhis will not be the case next week (should we progress).

In some ways, Rohan injured might be a blessing because it makes the player to miss out for Goodes an easy one, without the need to deflate Rohan by dropping him. And if he rests and improves this week and we get through against Carlton, depending on how Goodes and Jetta go in the upcoming game, it might be possible to play all three against Freo.

Gazza always looks sort of proppy anyway, but no issues here if he has to miss. He's done so well just getting back this year.

Whilst there's a lot of doom and gloom regarding our injuries/ lack of fitness/fatigue etc, no team is particularly fresh at this time of year and Carlton certainly have their issues. If Kreuzer is out that is a massive loss for them.

Apparently LRT is playing for the ressies.

My money is on Goodes in, Rohan out. I would like to see Bolton out for Lamb, but don't think it will happen.

Sad but true. I would also be happy with Jack2 in, Jetstar out.
God we miss Rhyce and Marty Those two would have been great ins against Betts and Garlett. Whilst also allowing Eski to play a more attacking role, which he excels at, and release Macca into the midfield/half forward.

If LRT could make it back, I don't think he would/should, it would allow Rampe to play more of a Marty role.
For all the talk of "tall timber" it is Reid/LRT as an IN that would be of great benefit if they played CHB. I can't see Tippett/White being able to do a good job down back, maybe Pyke could go back for a while and "fill a hole"? He is great up forward, just needs to aim well right of the sticks with his shots on goal, but could join Ted down back taking intercept marks. Maybe???

If we lose on Saturday, I wonder if he is still eligible to play on Sunday (given he only qualifies while the senior team is involved in its competition). I am sure Belconnen will be thrilled about a dual AFL premiership player making his season NEAFL in the Grand Final. But probably not as thrilled as if a dual Brownlow medallist, dual premiership player were making his all-time NEAFL debut in the same game.

If we lose there really is no point playing LRT anyway. He'll have more important things to do like decide on a Mad Monday costume.

Precisely. I reckon our GF Ressie team if we win will look very different to the team that will play if we lose...

                                OUT :
                                Rohan (he's not right)
Bolton (father time has left the station)
Jetta ( he's not up to speed after such a long lay off)
                                McVeigh (assuming he's injured)

                                IN :
                                Jack
                                Lamb
                                Morton
                                Biggs

I reckon we'll still beat Carlton, but let's face it... next week is another story.

But this , hopefully 2 weeks, would be great finals experience for these guys.
