Don't normally deal much in rumours, but heard one today through what is supposedly a solid source. A colleague of my dads is apparently a friend of a lady who works at the swans in a physio role. According to this source, our team were struck with the flu last week. Also Mcveigh has an ankle injury that is his major concern, not his knee and he won't play. Finally, that Goodes is not going to be able to play footy again, He's done! cannot vouch for the accuracy of this, but thought I'd throw it out there to see what RWOers make of it!Comment

I though exactly the same thing, a run of about 7 free kicks in a row in the final quarter, some plucked from nowhere. I thought finals were where the umpires were supposed to throw away the whistle!
Really makes you wonder about the game when something like this happens. We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!Comment

OK, taking the rumours in order:Don't normally deal much in rumours, but heard one today through what is supposedly a solid source. 1. That is plausible, and I hope it's true.
2. That is also plausible. If so, Lamb to come in.
3. Unfortunately that is also plausible, and my reaction is Nooooo! He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

The part I don't understand is why was he ruled out for the season? If he was that close and Sydney could potentially play two more games, why rule him out for the season? Makes me wonder if there is some truth to it.
Also, in regards to the McVeigh rumour, his brother Mark was just on SEN and was asked directly if Jarrad was playing and he said definitely. So either rumour is untrue or Swans are keeping it under raps right till game time.Comment

If this is true, requires immediate silence and negotiation for a trade for draft pick No 1.
Seriously, Goodes career would not be done. What sort of knee injury would do that considering what he has shown. It's not like bone on bone. He was running fine until the injury against Port and then it was clear to all what happened.
A whole team with man flu - near death situation that. It takes more than a week to get over it, probably never if you're married.Nothing like a good light bulb moment.Comment

I don't think he ever came really close Liz. Not according to physio Matt Cameron anyway. Matt never said he is good to go, he always says that if a player is ready. What's more he cringed a few times when people suggested Goodsie wwas almost ready. Goodsie broke down every time he put any stress on the knee and he is also feeling soreness in other parts of the leg which indicates he is overcompensating.
As sad as it is I think he would be better hanging up the boots for his own health and I think we need to get used to a post Goodes era.
Retirements at the end of the year; Jude, Goodsie, Rhyce and maybe LRT. Ryano is super fit and may go for one more. We need to look at the future I think now that we are truly blooding players. I know it is hard to let go of our favourites but let go we must. We have blooded nine players this year and will blood more next year, certainly Towers, Membrey, Marsh, Robinson, Lloyd, Peris (we will draft him), maybe Lockyer and Naismith. We will be a very strong side and get even stronger. The draft this year is full of KPP's.Comment

Goodsie has been carrying a knee injury which normally would mean an operation to remove cartilage. If the cartilage is floating then he will not be right without an op. The other thing is age creeps up on everyone and while in the eyes of society in general Goodsie is a young man in footy terms he is a venerable old man.If this is true, requires immediate silence and negotiation for a trade for draft pick No 1.

Which he had about two months ago. No? I think you're reading too much into Cameron's winces. Because as far as I can tell it's pratically the same as the way he smiles.Comment

Also heard from the same source that the entire midfield has scurvy so that explains the tiredness and lethargy over the last month plus the medical team has found a positive link between beards and knee injuries - expect everyone to be clean shaven tonight!Don't normally deal much in rumours, but heard one today through what is supposedly a solid source.
