According to SEN via BF (and what more reliable source could you ask for?) he's 95% done deal to be at Hawthorn next year.

Grundy is still a kid though and totally got his arse handed to him on Sat night by Lobbe who was clear BOG for mine. Mumford would be a massive, massive + for them.

Which would only be possible financially if Buddy goes to GWS. Not sure if Mummy is any sort of free agent, restricted or otherwise. In which case they would need to give something up in order to trade for Mumford. Not sure they have anything they'd be prepared to part with that we would want/ need. Anyway I think Mummy will stay a swan

Part of the Franklin deal to Swans doing the rounds a few months ago?

I would be happy with Pyke and Tippet in ruck and we get the best trade we can for Mumford, this may be our chance to secure top 10 draft pick? I think Mumford is worth more than Heath Shaw, Collingwood are not happy with his discipline and why would we be? Gives away too many stupid free kicks and still a massive question mark on him outside of football, isn't this one of the reasons our Shaw left, hopefully we still have no d/heads policy in place. Plenty of better trade options for mummy.

            Cheers

The Swans could lose Mumford and White for nothing if they both elect not to sign new contracts and go into the preseason draft!

GWS could take Mumford at pick one in the preseason, while St Kilda or the Western Bulldogs could take White at pick 3 or pick 4 in the preseason draft. These clubs could offer Mumford and White money and opportunity.

The cats would be the team to look at trading with if Mummy does leave and we want another genuine ruckmen.

Story that the Hawks are chasing Billy Longer from Brisbane. Would make for an opening at Brisbane for either Mummy or White or even both as they will be looking for another ruckman and a key forward to replace Brown.

A 3 way trade involving Longer and White with us getting Hawthorn's first pick (probably 17) looks pretty good for all parties.

The article states that they have several high draft picks looking to be trades, so Brisbane may have a number of high picks available for trades.

The whole system of the pre-season draft and the AFL compensating teams that lose free agents discourages bargaining in good faith at the trade table. We got Tippett and were able to keep Jesse White without giving up anything, so no one is going to feel sorry for us if we lose Mummy for nothing.

It appears Mummy will be going to Collingwood (Jolly will be gone) and Heath Shaw to Sydney. Also that Mummy will not be playing this week? Also leigh tudor will join Roos at Melbourne. That is what I am hearing.

At this time of year you have to be careful not to believe everything you hear / read. Not saying none of the above will eventuate but rumours start and gets legs from practically nothing, and most turn out to be way wide of the mark. A few days ago, Tudor "had signed at North". And as I mentioned earlier in this thread, SEN reckon Mummy to Hawks is close to a done deal. I've learned not to worry about what you hear, read and can't control. What happens, happens. Last time we lost our number one draft pick we came out of it just fine.

The article you quote says Mumford is close to re-signing with Sydney! Longmire also said in his interview that the four talls had shown good form over the last few weeks and that Mummy was good in the first game against Hawthorn. By the way it is now official. Collingwood has cut Jolly.

In my non insider opinion Mumfords best option is GWS. He does not have to move away from Beautiful Bondi where he lives and will be a very handy experienced body that GWS needs. There would be room in their salary cap to give him a bigger and longer deal. GWS just needs to tell him to nominate for the preseason draft in November and he is there's.

Would be a much better proposition than their blathering about Buddy.
But I hope Mummy stays where he is.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

If Daisy Thomas is off to Carlton and the AFL grant Collingwood pick 11 as compensation, then they will have 2 mid 1st round draft picks and may be willing to offer up one for Mummy.

In a strange twist, we might want to sign Jolly to a one year rookie contract as a ruck insurance policy if White should go as well. This would buy us time to see how Naismith and new American recruit Patrick Mitchell come along next year. Jolly will say he's sick of family life and needs a break.

I'd be happy to keep both Mummy and White or lose them both if we can get a couple of additional picks in the teens. I think we can develop a quick exciting team with both gone by opening up spots for the likes of Towers, Membrey, Biggs and Cunningham added to the return to form of Rohan and Jetta. The complexion of the team would change significantly, but I think it would be 'soooooo exciting'.

All a bit of wild speculation, but helps fill the nervous space before Saturday.

Why would the AFL be giving Colling wood pick 11 for a trade wirh Carlton?
