Paul Roos said on the couch he was happy to continue with the academy but he was told it wold be on a 55% pay cut sounds like Josh Francou is Paul Roos's replacement especially as it says Josh is a teacher.

Can't imagine North Adelaide are thrilled at the timing of the announcement.

Are Norwood still in the SANFL finals? Aren't we about to pinch their senior coach too? (or so it is rumoured).

A really good appointment. Josh has been highly rated by management and player leadership in the environments he has worked in. A clever brain, good communicator and strong work ethic. A future coach for some club one day.

Yeah they're minor premiers in a canter. Nathan Basset is their coach - has been a success from day 1 so wouldn't surprise to see him picked up by an AFL club

We've had a few terrier assistant coaches. About time we acquired a hound.

Will he bring his former Swan player assistant with him?
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

The rumours? and they are no more than rumours? say Bassett to North Melbourne. One place or another, hard to believe he won't be in the AFL system next year. No, SANFL senior coaches generally don't come as a job lot with their assistants, so no particular likelihood that we're about to get the Donk back on the coaching roster even if Bassett does come. Anyway, we've already got our quota (1) of injury-cruelled ex-Swans big men on the Sydney coaching panel!

While the extent to which he can be 'credited' might vary, the fact is that Francou's been coach during the career revival of three former Swans including Johnston. Dan Currie during his year with North Adel in 2012 clearly had 'AFL quality' stamped all over him and unsurprisingly got picked up again at the end of that year. (Unbelievably, is still yet to make his debut as a 2006 draftee, and North Melb recently re-signed him until the end of the 2015 season!) Nathan Gordon has trod exactly the same path this year, and the chances of him getting picked up again at the end of 2013 are excellent.

All of that hype said, Francou's North Adelaide are in a shocking slump at the moment, having fallen into the upcoming finals this week off 5 losses in a row, including losing to the wooden spooners, at home, by 11 goals! Makes any slump the Swans are in look relatively trivial.

Bassett by the way is a genius coach (IMO) but a somewhat eccentric individual in the Blight mould. Will be a very good AFL senior coach if he ever makes it, but the extent to which he's able to work as a cog in the machine as an assistant coach, is open to question.
