    I sense some sarcasm ...

but in response ... it was never tradition to give out balls after a regular season win. They didn't sign them. Then they started to sign the balls before they gave them out. Traditions of this natures change & it's a special keepsake for the kids

Fremantle played terribly. However, the umpires lifted their game from last year and got Hawthorn over the line this time. They were all over the match-changing turnovers - anything that could stem any Fremantle run. Well done, Christmas bonus. What do corrupt maggots eat at Christmas? A turkey corpse? Hang on, we all do that. Are we umpires? Carlton Draught is good thanks.

Who gives a @@@@ about the kids. The AFL need to think about themselves as administrators for one second. They never do that - ever. In fact, these selfish kids usually grow up to be football stars, not even administrators. More vaccines for them. I wait for the day when the AFL start making decisions in their own interests with no regard for anyone else's opinion....................................When I was a kid I dreamed of administration, stamping that rubber stamp after the siren on that outgoing mail. A kid can only dream.

Hey Jewels, I heard you on the radio on Thursday, well done! I followed the story all last week and was so pleased a Swans fanatic won the prize, hope you have enjoyed your weekend in Melbourne. Are you going to the Championship Dinner this Friday? Would love to check out the tat - in the ladies loo of course!

I won the Swans/Hawks finals tickets on 702 (the Jude Bolton quiz), plus a training day with Adam Spencer, but we couldn't coordinate the day, so have taken a raincheck. Nice to know there are other fanatical Swans ladies doing silly things on the radio!

What guff. Umpires played no part in the result. They were harsh against freo in htb early but decisions were balanced. Freo didn't take their chances, simple as that.

I know Freo were bad. Terrible, as I said. But do you think the umps don't 'lean towards' (putting it politely) the Hawks, especially against Syd and Freo in the last two GFs? Some bizarre interpretations out there today.

I agree with you completely. Its so unfair in my opinion to not be rewarded if you have played all season and then miss out on the GF,

Signing the caps by players would be great but then people would say the kids reward is being able to be there on stage and have a photo taken.
Nothing like a good light bulb moment.

Frankly I don't care who won today, but it was not a bad game and I think nerves got to freo. They only thing I HOPE I don't hear over the next few days is how Hawthorn should have also won last year's GF. Yeh right!! Especially when we had Richards, Goodes and Mummy on one leg and Hawthorn received 16 more free kicks!

Don't want to rain on the GF parade but Rohan was not trying too hard in the GF sprint today. It reminds me of when Dangerfield beat Lewis Jetta easily in the GF sprint in 2011 but come qualifying final day in 2012 Jetts gives him about 3 meters start and runs him down.

Pavlich is a good guy but I shouted at the TV when he congratulated the Hawks on their win saying they had been the best team for the last TWO years.

Because the NRL game is for sexist oafs only and the AFL is watched by everyone...but you knew that.

Thought about this question all week and about 10 minutes from the end realised...that I didn't care.

Pretty ordinary GF IMO, when compared with some of the classics of recent years. Dockers never fully recovered from early stage fright, pretty straightforward win for Hawks.

Hoping for something better next year, preferably with a team in red and white.
