I'm bored now it's off season. Does anyone know the date of the first round of 2014?

I share your boredom. Or should that be your pain ? We have six months of warm weather, pretty girls on the beach , bbqs , swimming in the sea , enjoying cold beer .....and NO FOOTY . S.A.D. - Seasonal Affective Disorder.
Oh how I yearn for cold , wet nights to lift the depression

I wonder when the home game v Collingwood will be? CityRail will be keen to find out ......so they can schedule major trackwork for that weekend.

I hate the idea of that 'weighted system'. Forgive me for sounding like I live in a parallel universe, but in my dimension, a fair, even and equal draw consists of everyone playing each other once, and playing your cross-town rival an extra time, with any additional matches being drawn from a hat.

We're not going to have a 17 game season though...

34 game season starting in February? That sounds good.

Bugger it, make it a 51 weeks season and give then a week off for Christmas.

Yeah but my suggestion was to add matches with rivals and randomly matched additional games for those administrators that want to have a long arduous season that reduces the quality of football so they can make more money.

What they have created now are basically divisions, pretty much destroying the ability to compare teams properly. Now teams would rather finish 7th than 6th, etc etc.

We discussed this at length a few weeks ago. How is a 'random' draw fairer then a draw which just ensures that a top 6 side doesn't 'randomly' draw GWS, Melbourne, Bulldogs, StKilda as 4 of there double up games and vice versa. We are only talking about a couple of games anyway.

There is not a snowflakes chance in hell that anybody, an interstate side especially, will manoeuvre to run 7th rather than 6th and give up a home final for the sake of one easier match in the following season, which is all the new system is proposing.

ok I'm bored .. did Essendon finish 7th or 9th? It appears to be 7th as they were not stripped of their points just barred from playing finals footy. oh I just realised it makes no difference to any one. Ignore ..I'm just bored

What if you pulled the Top 5 from the hat? That'd suck.

The weighted system is fine with me. It is more of an issue for Melbourne clubs and all their rivalries.

At the end of the day, the draw is not fair. Never has been and never will be. They don't want a fair draw. Hell, why don't they just relegate teams altogether like the Premier League.

The weighted system will lead to false team rankings, which in turn corrupts draft picks. Do we want false team rankings?

Just on the draw i cant see why we dont just have everyone play each other then start again till whatever round the season goes to, then the following year you pick up from where the last season finished. Seems the fairest way to me.
