    Swans chat Coaches departing/being poached

    Hey,
How does everyone feel about the mini-exodus of coaches from the Swans? Primarily Leigh Tudor and potentially Stuart Dew. A bit weary of losing their skills and footy wisdom.. Are there coaches ready to take their spot? Jared Crouch has had a pretty good year with the reserves.

While he's a big loss, Tudor was heading back to Melbourne whether he had a coaching role or not, so we would have lost him anyway. We've lost good people in the past (Ross Lyon, anyone?) and managed to maintain a level of success. In the end, there are many good people out there and we'll find someone good.

Blakey was touted as going to Demons, Tudor was moving back to Melbourne anyway and most likely place Norf. Crouchy is a really good development coach and will make a great senior coach one day. At the Swans I hope as I would hate to be on the receiving end of his intensity. what he has done with the Twos is nothing short of a miracle.

I thought the Swans made it clear that Stuart Dew is on contract and is required at the Swans. On the other hand I think George Stone is off to the Demons and Amon Buchanan is leaving the Swans Academy to go to the Giants as a development coach. As Toothy said, there will be good people to replace them.

amon buchanan only came back a few months ago so thats no worry. i dont see these losses as major. coaches, etc, move around all the time and there are plenty of experienced blokes to fill the void (although certain teams tend to always make poor decisions anyway)

Yah the article I just read says that the Swans are within their rights to hold Dew to his current contract as it isn't a direct promotion.

Was there word going around a little while ago that Nathan Basset was going to take up a role at the swans ? Maybe it was a rumour, but he would be a good replacement. Has developed some of his Norwood ( i think ) boys into AFL level players.

Joh Francou is coming from SA. Has had great success there as a SANFL coach after a brilliant but injury plagued career at Port Power.

It's a little disconcerting but I'm looking at the positives. It's another feather in our cap that clubs want to pinch our coaches. And I have the utmost faith in the club to more than adequately replenish our stocks.

According to SEN this morning, the Coaches Association is backing us in our stance to keep Dew.

Demons still want Stuart Dew, Swans want him to fill mid-field coaching role vacated by Leigh Tudor according to this article.

Once again the media is distorting the facts. According to the Swans, Dew is keen to hear what role the Swans have in mind for him, and has not yet asked for a release.

Let's keep him for another year....Roos will just have to wait if he wants him that much.

Then let's look at getting Ling up here ( says he's keen to coach but wants 1 more year in the media) as an assistant.

Gee Roos how about you respect the club and the contract Dew has with the club! While i am sure theres a little bit more mayo to sell papers I wouldn't put it pass Roos being aggressive in his hunt for Dew.

Hey after reading that misleading article and a few others and listening to the parrots on local radio, does anyone also feel that the Melbourne media are now engineering this massive hate for us? The Herald Sun has set a swans are the devils spawn agenda by carefully wording articles with hyperbole and emotive words.

Then you got knuckle draggers like MArk Fine not only fan the flames of hate but keeps pouring petrol over the fire.

And of course it's playing right into the envy of most if not Melbourne afl fans.

I think Buddy better watch out, the Herald Dumb will allocate a permanent pap in sydney to follow him around to find dirt.

Mickey O is back. Will be a senior coach some day, somewhere.
