    Andrew Ireland (as a player)

Just watched a replay of last qtr. of the 1977 GF Kangaroos Vs Collingwood and heard Andrew Ireland (for Colllingwood) called. Does anyone know if that is our Andrew Ireland. The replay was too quick for me to catch a good look at the player. This was on 73Mate on the Friday night before the GF, and am just getting around to watching it.

Yes it is. Played 110 games for Collingwood between 1975 and 1980, playing in losing grand finals in 77, 79 and 80.

Based on how he performs for us now, I believe the correct spelling in the common vernacular would be Andrew Ireland (as a playa)
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

          Yes.
