Martin Flanagan article 'When the Bombers were great'

An insight into the thinking of the EFC. How would you feel if the Swans brought some of these conditions in?
    - Upgrade or take inferior seating (not sure if this applies to the new stand)
    - If you DIDN'T want to donate to their new facilities you had to say so, otherwise it automatically came out (presumably included in your membership)

A very good read. Glad someone had the audacity (read 'guts') to stand up and say these things at their AGM while golden boy Jim was in the room.

It's a good article - nearly everything he writes is. I thought a link might help:

    When the Bombers were great
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Wow. Footy club threatens to punish members who don't upgrade.

Also it's a reminder about how quickly a club can turn to crap. In 2000, 2001 the Bombers were flying high. They've played in the finals - twice? - since and now they've dragged down the whole game.

If we ever hire someone like Kirk or MOL as senior coach it'll be because we think they're the best option and not just because we like having them around the club. See how that worked out for the Lions and Bombers. Contrast that with Buckley - he put in a couple of years under Malthouse and still has a job.
