Agree with most of AG's comments, except the one about Bird and Benny. I think Bird is a better kick and decision maker than Benny. Bird can also kick on both sides. It is difficult to compare them because Benny uses his quickness as his main weapon, while Bird tries getting to the right spots. Both are good defensive players. I think both have set themselves up for good years.

As AG has said, Swampy looks to be continuing in that defensive midfield role that he started with last season in the ressies. He's a great size for that role and the speed to go with it. We've learned from experience of what can happen when you start as a tagger, given the success of our 2 captains.

After watching the first 2 NAB Challenge games, I would say we are going about the same as Geelong and the Pies, who both looked a bit rusty with the skills. I know Hawthorn played an inexperienced Brisbane, but they looked very sharp. Nearly every player hit targets by foot with ease. They looked very well organised and continuing on from their GF win. They also had many regulars not playing as well.

I hope we give Lloyd and Robinson a go in the game next week, as both showed they are ready to continue on from good first years in the reserves.

The full replay video is still missing from the site. I wonder if it's a permanent decision. Perhaps the coaches had a word to the media department and didn't want to provide opposition clubs convenient footage of our players and game plan.

On the basis that most conspiracies are just incompetence, I am guessing there were questions on the quality and it was taken down

whilst disappointed (only got to watch the first) 1/4, i'm sure it was something else than worry for other clubs that had it taken down.

I'm sure there was opposition reps at the public intra.

For sure, other club spies would have been there but a video provides a permanent record available for everyone.

AFter the Mitch Johnson pre-Ashes exercise wouldn't surprise if AFL clubs play cute over the pre-season. What's the betting that we don't see Tippett, Goodes and Buddy all play together before round 1.

They've been filming full reserves games for a few years now. Why do you think that's never been offered for public consumption?

For all we know it could have to do with copyright issues. Perhaps the filmmaker is not an employee of the Swans and an agreement about copyright and compensations has not been reached, or is in dispute.

They had the guy who commentates the reserves game up on the scaffolding with none other than The Great Irish Hope (Tommy Walsh)

He would have had half a dozen shots or so (some that he should have been looked to pass off) and maybe scrapped in for 3 or so behinds.
So his goalkicking was better than it usually is. That's encouraging.

Could be a schockkk tactic - everyone is expecting Buddy to kick goals, and he is going to be used as a Goodsey clone, an everywhere man, who can kick goals when necessary. After all, we do have Jack(s), Benny, Tippo, Reid (at times), Goodsey, Luke, Joey, Mike, etc who have put their hands up. Getting the ball to them via Buddy may be the secret weapon.

                            I like Shock tactics.

Our weapons are fear, surprise and ruthless disposal efficiency.
