He was at my boy's footy training on Tuesday and he's looking in great shape! Hope they've got it right.

I think he would be a starter in most teams list.

The group we have at the moment means he will be a great depth player for us this season.

I agree Goods78. His season will depend on injuries to others. Garry Rohan, Ben Mglynn and Lewis Jetta are ahead of him with Brandon Jack closing in on him.

If he can hold down a significant amount of time in the midfield then he can challenge a Craig Bird.

Another good result for the Swans from the Rookie List!

Jetta really needs a strong start to the season after last year interrupted one. Preaseason injury hasn't helped. I agree on paper he's the pick, but if these guys are pushing hard, reputation is going to give eventually to inferior form.

I of course hope he can get back to 2012, and they allow 2 extra men on the field to get Haz and BJ on

Cunningham set to explode! ... to quote Fatty Vautin, "Gee I hope he doesn't, it'll be messy"

Big chance to score a Rising Star nomination at some point based pre-season form. Go you good thing.

As much as I like Cunningham, Jetta has superior class. He is a better kick in all circumstances and also a better mark. Jetta took a very impressive body on body mark in the goal square against Carlton in last years semi final.

Cunningham's tenacity and pressure skills are high grade, but he needs to do a lot to suggest that he possesses Jetta's all round explosive skills!

Poor Craig Bird..automatic pick for the last few years..described by Swans coaches as coming off ' probably his best year, certainly his most consistent', but still regarded as vulnerable by some.
                Beats me.

                  Me too.

I think the only way Cunningham can get in to the team ATM is through injury.

Like Rampe last year, when he get's his chance - perform!

That mark against Walker took everyone by surprise, but it doesn't happen that often. No one doubts Jetta's abilities when he's going 100%. He had a fantastic 2012, but the fact is that outside of that year he has only shown his top form in a few games.

Actually Cunningham has more explosive speed than Jetta from a dead stop, but once Jetta gets a couple of steps, no one can touch him. We tend to forgive Jetta's many errors, because his best is so extraordinary.

I think you know what you are getting with Harry. He's going to give it his all both offensively and defensively. He's a young player that has a long way to go to be at his best, but even at 20 yo, he's showing a lot of quality in all aspects of the game.

It may be a big call, but I would play Harry in the 21 before Jetta in round 1, and make Jetta the sub. You don't have to play your best 21 every week. I would like to give Harry a chance to show he's a starter.

In H&O games, it's a good idea to give an inexperienced player some game time at senior lever. Most teams seem to do it.

You make some valid points Ludwig. Jetta is ahead of Cunningham in two other facets:

                            1) Outside 50 goals.
                            2) Football Smarts (remember Jetta's pass to Kerian Jack in the 2012 GF.

Outside 50 goals will be vital this year as oppositions will push all 18 players into the defensive 50 to bloc the space of Tippett, Franklin, Reid, Goodes and Garry Rohan.

Matt, Cunningham can kick them from outside 50 as well. But I have no argument about Jetta's skills, which are elite. The only question is whether we are going to see the consistent Jetta that kicked multiple goals game after game or the one that puts in a couple of sparkling cameos every game. I hope it's the former.
