Yes does explain a lot. I was puzzled why he risked ( and got) suspension by having a go at a GWS player last year in a match we were never going to lose. Now I know why he got angry.

But I hope Ben's got it out of his system. Ted Richards has named McGlynn

As I was saying (damn IPhone) ... Richards has named Ben as his long shot for the Brownlow for this year. Won't happen if Ben gets another suspension!

        Um . . . I wouldn't be taking Ted's Brownlow tips too seriously.

I am sure none of us forget James MacDonald breaking Luke Parker's jaw in the first ever Sydney Derby. Not sure they are a club to be complaining about sniping.

I should add though that the serious point Ted was making was that McGlynn had been outstanding in the pre season preparation. Hope that form continues Saturday and beyond.

Whilst I've not yet been sucked into some sort of fabricated rivalry, hearing more stories about the sniping and poor sportsmanship coming from GWS rookies over the last few years makes me dislike them more and more.....

I feel a bit like you Jono but I think Sheedy is the one who drives that. He put the stick in the cage again in today's media by saying that our 2012 premiership came via "a gift of the gods" and in effect that Malceski's two goals were a fluke. Mind you he does tip us to win the flag this year.

Yes and their president and CEO have had a bag of sniping about Buddy and COLA in the last 2 months. By the way interesting how a young player in his second year is winding Benny up about not playing in a premiership due to injury. This lot have yet to prove they can even make a final. All the talent in the world won't win a premiership. It requires something more; Utter strength of will and determination, guts, belief, the ultimate team game, being able to dig deep when there is nothing left and finding that little bit more after breaking the pain barrier, character. Some of these young blokes will have all of those but some won't.

This just in: Snap shots at goal require some luck sometimes.

Sheedy just needs someone to talk to who will listen to his old man tales.

Talking about Benny there is an article on AFL.com.au saying he has signed a 2 year extention which will take him through to end 2016.

Sheedy may have a bit of a thing about South Melbourne/Sydney. A number of years ago, he said something in the press about some Brownlow Medal winners not deserving the award. When a journo asked him to name names, he came up with Graham Teasdale, South's winner of the 1977 medal. No-one who saw VFL footy in 1977 would dispute that Teasdale CLEARLY was the best player of that year.

GWS continue to background reporters with their version of why they didn't get Franklin.

"There is no doubt they would have liked Franklin to be a Giant not a Swan when the team?s meet on Saturday afternoon. But the subterfuge and double-dealing might yet prove the making of the ??Battle of the Bridge??. The spark that ignites a genuine rivalry."

How many more years do you think the AFL will make us play GWS at their home ground in round 1?
