      This flurry of signings reinforces my belief that the cola will stay for all contracts that are signed before it is officially eliminated. If that is the case, then it's a great tool for locking up players. From the player's standpoint, they might be willing to accept less and lock in the extra 10% paid by the AFL, and be with a premiership contender to boot. You might pay a lot for an 'insurance policy' like that instead of taking your chances as what might be when your contract comes to an end. So losing the cola can be turned into an advantage to retaining players rather than losing them.

          McGlynn's is a great story. He barely got a game at Hawthorn and now he's a club leader. Love the way he plays.
