    Luke Ablett's career post footy

Those that follow him on twitter would know a little bit about what Luke has been getting up to recently, this article discusses it in a bit more detail.

I admire him for the work that he has been doing and for speaking up for what he believes in, even if those beliefs might cause some to be uncomfortable.

    Good article.
Nice to hear footballers giving back to the world rather than doing things for their own self gratification.

What a great example of how being in Sydney allows players more freedom to explore other avenues in life without the media spotlight . Also that you don't need to be a slave to your career to find satisfaction. Although how good could he have been if he had fully immersed himself?

Great to see a former AFL footballer moving life in a different direction. Leo Barry has also experienced post football success as a Stock Broker at Merrell Lynch.

The reality is there are are only so many jobs in the wider AFL industry and there won't be opportunities for all former players to stay involved.

It can also be a shock when you have geared your life at $200,000 plus per year and you won't get another Football playing contract.

Good idea to follow Noggy's tweet account. He has pointed me in many an interesting direction. Good man there.

Worth following on twitter. Very thoughtful

Thanks IAG, that's a really interesting article, and I must have missed it too.

Luke is very highly regarded in Melbourne. He turned up at a Legends Lunch a couple of years back, was warmly applauded and mobbed afterwards.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)
