    I'm a Buddyholic.

    Okay, I admit I'm a Buddyholic.

At first, like everyone, I was extremely skeptical of his recruitment. Remembering only how much I hated him when he played for the hawks.

Upon seeing this years games, I find myself rewinding and rewatching all of Buddy's goals and pieces of play he's been involved in. I've realized I've unknowingly watched his four goals on the weekend at least 10 times. That's sad, even for me.

As embarrassing as it is, I've become excited about having him at the club and I've jumped on the Buddy bandwagon.

I was the same way with Lockett I guess. In 1994 I absolutely *******HATED******** him, particularly after smashing Peter Caven's nose. As soon as he made the move, I also loved him.

Now I'm giggling like a schoolgirl at the thought of watching him swing onto that left foot and kick more goals for us this year. I found myself saying, 'ooooooooooo' aloud alone in my Japanese apartment after he kicked that goal in the third quarter.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Kind of liked the idea from the start. Seeing him now with a spark in his eyes and sheer enjoyment on his face makes me very content. Our membership is up, the boys are now starting to read each other's style and game, combinations are starting to emerge in play up and down the ground, he is more involved and is kind of Buddy
Anywhere, Plus the kids are no longer deferring to him and are starting to play their own games. All good.

And just quietly, no Bud in the news this week. The media have not acknowledged his 4 goal haul, they have ignored it. Mick Malthouse is this week's whipping boy. Works for me.

This week they were interviewing a Kangaroos player and asked him if he'd be playing on Buddy this week. He said "Not since he kicked 13 goals on me." Please, please Buddy do it again on Sunday. And I'm with you guys - I've always enjoyed watching him play and it still seems a bit miraculous that he's now showing that magic in red and white.

Buddy has become even more vital to the Swans forward line structure with the injury concerns of Tippett, Reid and Goodes. If we had not recruited Buddy our forward line would now be led by LRT and Mike Pyke. These guys are good contributors and always do a good job, but it would be difficult for the team to kick a winning score with those two leading the key positions on their own.

I was on the bandwagon as soon as I saw him in the R&W polo at the press conference in October.

On SEN radio this morning Brent Guerra said that Buddy never liked the skin fold test when he returned to pre season training suggesting he would always comeback a few kgs heavier and that it would take him a couple of weeks into the season to get going.
I am looking forward to the rest of the year now.

A crazy Hawks fan mate describes the Bud as follows (then and now):

I love Buddy. Everyone loves Buddy. But who the Buddy hell taught him how to kick!

Anyway, I digress. I love Buddy now that he is not at the Hawks and is playing at the Swans.

Just think about it - no longer do we have to worry about Buddy & Roughy & Hale & Gunston any more. Just the other three flogs. Surely that's just as good as Buddy donning the red & the white!

It's fantastic. Seeing him wind up that big left boot and bang one home from 50-odd, while wearing our beautiful jumper, is a sight we can enjoy for years to come.

                      I'm a big fan.

Exactly, we can only embrace it. He's now one of us, his failure and proving naysayers correct will only be a negative for us. And the best part as said, we only have to defend him in the media and not on game day!
