How do you get two reprimands? Surely the first is a reprimand and the second is an offence?
You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby Ziegler

You may have good reasons, but why are the 40000 members and other general public not turning up to the SCG. Weve had two poor crowds in a row out there.

I've just read the MRP report. No existing record????? How is that possible? One of the grubs of the competition. But even more clever than I had realised obviously.

Perhaps that's not the question. Perhaps we should ask why aren't the crowds bigger at ALL Swans games? (or all AFL games in general - there are lots of people voting with their feet at Melbourne games, too).

PS About 10,000 of those Swans members live in Victoria. A bit much to expect them to travel to Sydney for home games, I'd have thought.

Interested in peoples' thoughts on the umpiring; Personally, I thought it was average/poor. One example I'll give is something I've rarely seen before in an AFL game because I thought it was against the rules.....apparently not. 13 seconds into the 3rd quarter Stephen Hill is awarded a free kick for a seemingly legitimate Luke Parker tackle in the centre of the SCG. As Luke is standing the mark & Hill is just about to kick the ball.....Danyle Pearce charges the man on the mark (Luke) from behind while the umpire less than 20 metres away signals "play on". That umpire would have to be going to the bush next week wouldn't he ??

Saw that and agree 100% - you're definitely not allowed to do it....remember Leo Barry was penalised 'cos the umpire THOUGHT he had done it...a mistake in that case but the rule idea was right. :-)

Do you have any theories for the 'poor crowds'?

I'd like to think I'm not a schadenfreudeish kind of dude, but I'm willing to make an exception in the case of Ballantyne:
Suspended Hayden Ballantyne 'in the Colin Sylvia basket', says Ross Lyon - AFL.com.au

                    "(It's) disappointing, undisciplined," Lyon said.

"It's cost Hayden and the team. So he sits in the Colin Sylvia basket."

Lyon says the club will definitely accept the ban and suggested he may consider making Ballantyne pay extra penance.

We lost convincingly to GWS, Collingwood and North Melbourne. If only we had won a few games we would have over 40,000 members now (Haven't seen anything to indicate we already have) and we'd have had higher crowds at both SCG games and the ANZ game.

We just had a nightmare start.

If we look the goods and string a bunch of wins together, our crowds will build. Always been the same pattern with swans fans.

Not sure what your getting at there Barry?

We've beaten a Top 4 team and last years grand finalist now.

They remembered. Who they are and what they stand for - what makes us, us. We are The Bloods. We are The Sydney Swans. We are not Hawthorn.

Playing true to ourselves and trusting in each other won us a flag, it can do again. I'm as proud of the team as they are of the jumper for they proved the Red and White still counts for something, despite the differences between those who bear it. McGlynn, Rampe, Richards, Kennedy, the list goes on with those deserving praise. That Fremantle lost as a direct result of our pressure rather than their own incompetence was the most significant part of our victory. Now keep the faith, go forth and exorcise some Demons.
