He's been wearing padding to protect his ribs, right side. During, and particularly after, matches he stands around with his right arm bent up and tucked in...As he grimaces with every breath...

I don't need a medical degree to see he has either badly bruised rib cartilage( which is very painful and can linger for weeks)..Or he has a busted rib or 2.

The back talk seems like an attempted smoke screen...But I doubt it's fooling anyone.

I like Ernie's team too but with a couple of possible changes. I think LRT needs to join ROK, Rohan and Mitchell in the 2's and each of them should stay there until they can play 4 quarters of dominant or at least good football two weeks in a row. But for Ernie's team I agree that Mitchell would have to come in and if KT is not available LRT would have to stay. What a test it would be for Harry, Lloyd and B. Jack, and Goodesy and Reid would have stand up too. Bring it on!

I know it is early days but I am not convinced by Laider yet and would really like to see Biggs get a game but he is coming back from a limited pre-season too. So my sub would be Robinson or maybe Membrey mainly because they have been playing well in the 2's.

Surely Magic and ROK were still playing FWD when ND hung up the boots. (runs off to check the 'net)

edit: so he finished in '07, was that also the year ROK was tempted to the Dawks? Anyway, MOK was still playing until '09.

Back to my point though, it would be good to see how a mid sized fwd would go in our (potential) forest of tall forwards.

I'd like to see Membrey get a couple of games with the firsts, I think he might help our structure.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

No, O'Keefe wanted to go in 2008 after they won the flag but Hawthorn (Pelchen) wouldn't do the trade for their first rounder. ROK won our B&F from memory in 2009 and, in what was true karma, won the Norm Smith against them in 2012.

Would probably be very effective if we had all of Buddy, Tippo, Reid and Goodes in the lineup. He would probably find himself without a defender a lot of the time, and he's probably the best kick for goal of them all.

I agree - he would really help with our structure and provide another avenue to goal. I think he's deserving of a call up at some stage too....

What is the McVeigh injury some posters have mentioned? Cant see any reports about it ... fact or an assumption?

His calf was pretty heavily taped/strapped on Sat night.
Didn't seem to hindered by it.

OK thx. Might explain why his kicking accuracy seems to have been lower recently.

I was talking to a guy at work who is a die hard Swans supporter, who watches Reserves Games. He expressed the opinion that Toby N is too raw for senior football and is not a viable alternative to Tom D at this time.

Does anyone have any opinions on this view?

                                From Horses press conference today
                                1) Franklin should be fine to play this week, no structural damage.
                                2) Goodes will probably line up in the 21.
                                3) Reid will be considered for selection, has trained well.
                                4) Tippett is back running and will be assessed at Thursdays training.

Gee, I'd be surprised if they risked further damage to Tippetts cracked rib, especially against the Lions, when it looks like we'll have Reid, Franklin and Goodes all playing.
