Anyone know how Tim Membrey is going in the reserves? Unfortunately living in Melbourne I can't see any of their games apart from the highlights on our website, but I love the look of this kid and have loved him since we drafted him. Good size, good hands, dead eye. Why hasn't he got a gig at senior level when we've had injuries or lost? Don't want to lose this kid to another club. Will be a star IMO if he gets a real crack at it. Everytime I've seen his highlights at reserves level he has kicked his fair share and looks like he has alot of composure.

Just check the reserves threads on here. Great writeups.
I'd say no game due to:
Working on defensive side/fitness.
Seniors spots.
I think inching closer week by week. Actual watchers in the threads go into more detail/will clarify.Comment

Was listening to the pre game on MMM, and Gary Lyon mentioned him as a definite player that could attract interest from other clubs due to his lack of opportunities at Sydney.
He must be going ok, for Melbourne based commentators to notice him.Comment

Watching him put in another solid performance on Friday, it did occur to me that he might look to move at the end of the year to seek more opportunities. I don't think he's been hard done by in not getting a game thus far but I can imagine he will look at who is ahead of him in the queue, and Longmire's desire to get the speed of BJ into the side whenever a forward line spot does open up, and wonder whether he has a future at the Swans.Comment

Could be another lewis johnston.
Can't have em all, all at the same time.
You'd feel no ill will if he decided to go elsewhere.
It is what it is, who are we dropping for him to get in?Comment

He picked a good day to have one of his best games, with MMM and other assorted media types in the stands either on air in pre-game mode or preparing for the main game...Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

A 188cm pure medium forward in rare in modern football. The nearest footballer I can think of to Membrey is Crameri from the Bulldogs.
I know Ludwig rates him highly, but I want to find out some more about him.
Is he only a forward or does he have a midfield rotation in him?
Does he have good pace or serviceable pace?
Does he apply a lot of forward pressure?
Does he need to play out of the Goal square or can he play a complementary role in a forward line containing Tippett, Goodes, Reid and Franklin?Comment

Pace is one thing he does lack. I think he's a good player and would like to see him get a game soon. He may be considered an awkward size for a permanent forward by some but hopefully this works in his favour some how to work up the ground more in time.Using TapatalkComment

His tested speed at draft camp was 3 seconds flat over 20 metres whixh is not shabbyYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

He has good off the mark pace to get separation on the lead.
He doesn't work hard enough defensively.
From various coaches comments, he needs to improve his overall fitness.
Don't know what his tank is like, but he pretty much plays as a forward in the 2's.
I get the feeling, unless something dramatically changes, he wont get much opportunity with the Swans this season. (Goodes present role would be the most suitable for him )
As someone posted earlier, looks like it may be another Lewis Johnston scenario.Last edited by ernie koala; 12 May 2014, 04:07 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

I think it was his endurance running that was questioned, not his pace. He is very hard to stop on the lead. He's a strong mark and accurate kick for goal. I can see him as the second inside 50 target, and could really get a lot of goal opportunities playing along with Tippett, who would draw most of the attention. Buddy is most valuable outside the 50 arc. And I like Reid playing through the midfield and dropping back to support the defence. I think we can structure the team to find a valuable role for Membrey. There's a bit of ROK about him, but with more pace and less tank. Then again, there are others vying for spot in the team as well.
Overall, I think he's developing into an AFL level footballer and hope he gets an opportunity to show his stuff for us at senior level.Comment

I saw him play on Friday night and I was impressed. He is a strong mark and a great kick.
I have read in previous posts that his speed and fitness were not up to scratch, but from his display on Friday night I thought he was one of the better players. Certainly I would rate him higher than B.Jack (based on Friday night). So I would like to see him get a go before the end of the year so a realistic assessment can be made of his capability.Comment
