i honestly can not believe we will trade Tom Mitchell

the guy came back and ran top 8 or less in the 3km time trial after no running since Sept !

he has been limping around on no ankle ligament strength for some time and once this heals 100% he will kill it !

it is amazing how we so easily forget...................i still havent forgotten the hit on Brent Guerra one of the toughest 90kg hombre's around

      booooommmmmmmm !!!!

      cu brent

PLUS he is just an accumulator of the football !!!!!!

The Mitchell stuff is just a bit of harmless speculation leading into a slow bye week. But it's good food for thought about the current and potential depth of the Sydney midfield. This is a serious matter because quality players want to play, and this midfield is going to be very difficult to crack for some years to come and may well lead to some quality players leaving.

My post was sarcasm. He stays for me. Wouldn't even trade him for Gary Ablett Jr coz Tommy will be racking up Ablett-like stats when Gary Jr is in a wheelchair ... or I'm hoping

Not sure what the position of Jake Carlisle is with the show cause notices given out to Essendon players.

What is clear is that living in Melbourne with the Essendon uncertainty would be hell for the next two years. The media scrutiny, the legal scrutiny and the head coach uncertainty would make life very hard.

Maybe it?s time for Carlisle to leave Melbourne and have a fresh start at the Swans. We could play him is his set position the backline and give him a life away from the Melbourne press.

This will all depend on how the show cause notices go.

If Carlisle would start his voluntary suspension now, he could be ready to play mid 2016.

The way I see it, from the players' perspective, they shouldn't fight this, take immediate suspension, take the next year and a half off with pay (for sure) and get ready to play in 2 years time. No point in fighting this and then take your suspension at the end of the fight.

Harsh on Steve Wright & Dennis Carroll

& yup Barry went to Collingwood for a season then resurrected his career at Carlton[/QUOTE]

I still see Barry Mitchell at all Carlton games in the AFL members with a clip board. Not sure if he works for the Blues or not.

I thought he worked for us, as a Melbourne based forward scout. Or, at least, he was a year or two ago when Tom was drafted. There was a bit of a hoo-ha about whether his salary should come under the salary cap (as additional payment to Tom) but it was determined that Barry had been employed on his own merits - given his previous history as assistant coach at Carlton and at Freo, it would have been hard for them to assess otherwise.

If that was to occur, Essendon would have 25 players or more remaining on their list that could not play in 2015. If no provisions are made, Essendon would not be able to field a senior side (even after upgrading all rookies).

It may be worth Essendon trying to trade away all their suspended players for some late draft picks. Opposition clubs would pick up the suspended players and keep them on the list for 2015 (without playing) and have them ready for 2016, if they are considered highly valuable players. I?m sure if he was cheap and his salary was not too high, that we would keep Carlisle on our list for 2015 without playing him, with a long term view to 2016 and beyond.

Essendon could then at least use some late draft picks and pick up some mature State League players to field a senior side.

It may be an intriguing offseason if Essendon need to launch a fire sale of suspended players.

It's like thinking about what you will have for dinner while enjoying a nice lunch.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.
