    On the Rookie List

    Sick of it.

I am sick and tired from all the flogs in the media and supporters giving it to our great club about us getting Tippo and Buddy.

Do these muppets have any idea how many recycled and rookie draft players we have in our best 22 at the moment? How many top 10 draft picks we haven't had the last 10 years and how we have built our list?

From the game against Essendon on friday night.

Jeremy Laidler (Delisted Rookie pick), Ted Richards (Traded) , Nick Smith (Rookie pick)

Rhyce Shaw (Traded), Heath Grundy (Rookie pick), Nick Malceski (Pick 64)

Kieren Jack (Rookie pick), Harry Cunningham (Rookie pick), Dane Rampe (Rookie pick)

Lewis Jetta (Pick 14), Kurt Tippett (Free Agent), Jake Lloyd (Rookie Pick)

Adam Goodes (Pick 38), Lance Franklin (Free Agent), Luke Parker (Pick 40)

Tom Derickx (Rookie Pick), Josh Kennedy (Traded), Jarrad McVeigh (Pick 5)

Dan Hannebery (Pick 30), Craig Bird (Rookie Pick), Sam Reid (Pick 38)

    SUB Brandon Jack (Rookie Pick)

So 9 of our best 22 were rookie picks, 3 of our best 22 trades, and the rest either free agents or top 30-60 draft picks, Jetta, Buddy and Macca aside.

Granted we have had the COLA which has helped us bring in some big fish, but no other club would have had the bollocks to bring in a footballer on a 9 year deal and make the big calls which could pay off. No risk, no reward. About time we were given more credit in the media for how our side has been built regardless of Buddy and Tippett. Mugs in the media have short memories. GO THE BLOODS.

Don't take any notice of them. They are just jealous of our superior recruiting skills.

We certainly have been doing well with rookies, but Craig Bird was in the main draft.

It seems mostly to have been fueled by Bonehead McGuire. 'The Bondi Billionaires we like to call them here' he chortles at his own dumb inaccurate joke while referring to the Swans. Millionaires, two of them, perhaps. I suspect that old Bonehead is way closer to his first billion than anyone on the Swans roster, and the sad irony is that these inaccurately labelled billionaires have immense talent whereas Bonehead has none to speak of whatsoever.

You complain about one thing and then seem to take the argument that COLA has made an impact on being able to recruit players rather than it being necessary to maintain a level playing field based on the higher COST OF LIVING in Sydney.
          weird.

It's really impressive when presented this way. Only 2 of our own first round picks plus one from another team. It really diminishes the value of high draft picks. And we have a whole slew of rookies in the present list looking to follow on.

We have our first round picks lifting the reserves.

Well done, be good to tweet this to Peter Fitzsimmons (SMH) who has been bagging out the Buddy signing ad nauseum in Sydney .
Not sure how to do it.

                            BRILLIANT!

I am sick to death of this crap too. I wrote this piece mostly about the Buddy situation, a few weeks ago on the Footy Almanac website
                            Buddy: A New Frontier

Funny how quiet all of the critics have been over the past few weeks!

Quite simply, no club in the AFL makes smarter footballing decisions than the Mighty Bloods!

We've just got the best selectors in the business.
If someone wants a top team, they should pick up Kinnear.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
