I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

I quite agree Liz, however the AFL is not averse to the odd complete joke (NSW Scholarship scheme anyone?).
What the AFL's new leadership will do I have no idea, but after he GWS/Gold Coast draft domination, the COLA/Buddy controversy etc. etc. I am certain that the Victorian clubs and particularly their supporters would be overjoyed with any policy with a clear bias against the 'foreigners'.Comment

The GWS 'zone' must end. Doing absolutelynothing they will be gifted pkayers evrry year. Riverina should never be a devek zone. Has historical ly produced 1 or 2 players every year
That is a complete rortYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

Don't worry Reggi. GWS will continue to grant us the Cunningham's of the World who they consider to be unworthy. Will will accept them and turn them into good players.
GWS must be praying for more rain than Noah!Comment

Latest story on accommodation allowance to replace COLA.
"Every Sydney player who isn't paid more than $300,000 will receive a net payment of $10,000 next season and in 2016, under the AFL's new version of the cost of living allowance (COLA)."
"The revised COLA will be a net payment and a fringe benefit - which means the club will have to pay fringe-benefits tax. This temporary COLA will be skewed towards the younger players on the list, for whom a net $10,000 allowance is far more significant than those who are highly paid."

I am surprised by the comment that the Giants have retained a 9.8% "retention" allowance. It was originally reported that they, too, would have COLA phased out and replaced by the rental allowance. Has this now changed? Has the Giants' COLA been officially redesignated as a retention allowance? Will their lesser paid players also receive a rental allowance?Latest story on accommodation allowance to replace COLA.
