Laidler the weak link, get him out!
Awesome tonight, one down two to go in the 8 point games trilogy. Got to beat Gold Coast and Port then whip GWS to consolidate. Top two and we'll have a great shot at another flag.
Agree Shaw and Goodes must play on next year!Comment

Shaw absolutely on current form, but not so sure about the great a goodes. Id love to think we can send him out a triple premiership player though!"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Wonderful all-round performance. The mids dazzled, the backs were nearly impenetrable, the forwards were spectacular (and a bit wayward!) Apart from the stray behinds, probably the most complete performance I've ever seen, and against what is still a very good team despite being undermanned. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

If only Buddy hadn't destroyed our culture, Hannebery hadn't turned into a car-smashing party boy, Tippett wasn't a waste of time and money .....we could have won by 200 points!
Time for some commentators to publicly wipe egg off their faces. And perhaps a few Swans' fans to admit they were wrong as well.
Brilliant just brilliant, the whole damn lot of them.Comment

Agreed. I can't remember a more complete demolition by the Swans of such a high quality team. Sure, they were without two important defenders, but we didn't win the game for that reason. The defence was absolutely brilliant and the midfield rampant. What impressed me was how methodical and disciplined the pressure was. It wasn't just lots of guys manically attacking contests. There was a real system about it. One player would execute a pressure act, and then the next followed up with another, and then the next until possession was regained. And for four quarters with almost no let up. The ruthlessness was quite startling.Wonderful all-round performance. Every year through the mid-late 2000s, I'd drag myself out to ANZ for the Cats game. Watch their unstoppable midfield rampage down the middle, for goal after unanswered goal. They just kept coming like Terminator 2 liquid metal man. Then I'd drag myself home again.
Not tonight. Gonna savour that for a very long time.Comment

I used to it like that people rather liked the Swans - but after tonight I am looking forward to them absolutely hating us as we demolish teams for once.
What a fantastic performance, and if there are any whipping boys in our team; it just means we have further improvement when needed.Comment

Just point out that, alongside Buddy and Tippo, the Swans have built a team around Jack, Smith, Grundy, Rampe, Lloyd, Cunningham (and Pyke) - all gems found on the rookie list - not to mention actual or virtual discards from other sides.Comment
