Nice work Ugg - as usual, we are in awe of your ability to see it all and report so well.

Like you I thought that P Mitchell is below standard at this stage. And I thought that young Heeney is a likely to keep an eye on.
I'm not sure if Naismith always dresses like Michelin Man but you have to wonder how those legs would stand up to senior footy when they are bandaged like that. And he's only 18yo or so.
Alliir is all that you say he is, but I wondered about his tackling, and I wondered about his defensive skills when opponents seemed to be able to outmark him in contests.
BJ looks likely and was certainly one of the better players on the day - I think he has bulked up quite nicely from last year.

Honourable mention to Illett from Thunder who is one of the best sub-AFL players that I have seen.

Also spotted at the ground were Jon Blakey, Stuart Dew, Marty Mattner, Steve Taubert (who pushed in at the canteen queue !), and Kenny who leads the song when the team wins.

Like you said, nice suburban ground, healthy crowd, good day had by all.

Re: Aliir. I know the contests you were talking about they were late, late in the game and Ewing outmarked him twice.
      Re: Naismith. He's older than 18, 20 I think?
Re: Heeney, I don't watch any junior footy so I wouldn't know whether he's worth a first, second or rookie pick. But he didn't look out of place at all. Neither did Abe Davis.

With Walsh's injury, it's 48:00 on the YouTube video Sydney Swans v NT Thunder - YouTube Looks like either Patrick landed on his foot, or his foot landed on Patrick's. Straight off to the bench. Trying to find Towers' injury now, but this one is a little harder.

Alliir Alliir has a lovely kick on him but was second to the ball all day and was outmarked a number of times.

Has to still be in the "Project Player" category. Can see us hunting defenders at the Draft this year

Towers' injury is 32:58. I think the damage is caused when he lands awkwardly on his right shoulder, but then it's exacerbated by the defender falling on him. He gets up holding his right arm awkwardly.

You have to wonder about these poor guys and their support staff - presumably can't get home because of flight cancellations so stuck in a foreign city for an indefinite time.
It's the ever-present risk in a nation-wide competition and we can only hope they're coping ok. They can't even catch a ferry to see the VIVID lights !

Ugg, I did my research (ie Google) and see that he's 22yo.
You have to wonder about where it's all going for Naismith. I remember when he came down from the QLD border and played for North Shore in our Sydney comp while they fattened him up for great things.
Now he's 22yo, hasn't yet made his mark, straps up like Michelin Man to protect the legs. Derickx has the ruck gig, Mike Pyke will take over when he's fit, Nankervis looks to have more tricks and is younger anyway, and there are others who can do fill-in ruckwork in the seniors if required.
You need a PLAN B in life, don't you ?

Some pictures if you didn't see it on Twitter

                    Pre-match warmup

Three-quarter time huddle - Francou talking to the midfield group. Crouch took the backs. I'm not sure who spoke to the forwards - probably Nicky D. Interestingly Longmire had quite a long chat to Naismith just after the 3q siren

Post-match presentation where NT coach Xavier Clarke awarded best Swans player to Daniel Robinson and Jared Crouch awarded best Thunder player to Liam Patrick

I think Rohan, barring injuries to players in the top 22, is still some way off. He keeps showing fleeting moments of his great ability to break the lines - but again yesterday, they were too brief and too intermittent to say he is really pushing for a spot in the first place. Especially now that they are trying to remodel him in some way towards playing a bit down back. Give him time though and he will get there - its just taking a long time for it to click again for him after that awful injury.

Stats are up. Good to see Lockyer get some form Robinson ROK and Mitchell 31 possessions

Did any of the ressies watchers take note of any defensive-midfield match-ups from the NT boys? I'd assume Mitchell had someone running with him after his 64 touches/4 goals - and if so, 31 posessions is a very tidy return.

On another note it's great to see B.Jack with such high numbers, something we haven't seen from him much yet! And the younger brigade in Hewett and Perris too finding plenty of the footy. Remarkable midfield depth in this current list.
