    Swans Website

As good as last weeks result was I wish our website would stop talking about it and concentrate on our next match.
The Gold Coast are going to be hard to beat, so if our minds arn't on the job we might get belted.

I don't believe the minds of those viewing the website will alter the result against the Suns. In any case, if the odd player views the site, it would be for the Richard's Report and Open Pyke. Not sure they would be to influenced about fluff pieces.

we only made $700k profit last fin year from memory

      we need the exposure
      we need the discussion
      we need the attention
      we need more money

      hence - Tippett and Buddy

Really?!?! It was about as close to the perfect football match as any of us are likely to see in our lifetime. Why would a site devoted to the Swans not revel in it for a whole week? I'm sure the posts on sydneyswans.com don't loom large in the players' or coaches' game plans or preparations.

Kudos to the website for putting the links to Nick Smith and Luke Parker interviews up.
At the end of Nick's interview he was asked about his contract status. Apparently he is contracted for next year as well. He was asked if he would like to return to Melbourne and his answer was NO.

This seems to be a trend in Melbourne. The Sunday Footy Show also hinted that other clubs may now be head hunting Swans players nearing the end of contracts as a recognition of the impact that the Buddy/Tippett deals may have on the Swans ability to pay their worth.
Parker, Bird, Kennedy, Reid were all mentioned as possible targets given their higher earning capacity and the restrictions on our ability to meet those costs.
I must admit that this like the Mumford loss last year are my greatest concerns about the aforementioned deals and their being back-ended.

I wouldn't be too concerned. We have a bunch of players that will likely retire over the next few years that will free up space under the cap.

Yep. O'Keefe will probably move on ala Chapman and Podsiadly. If we win the flag I think Goodes will finish up this year. LRT will probably end up this year too. That's a pretty big chunk of our salary outlay.

Yes that's what Ireland (or might have been Pridham) said in the recent interviews responding to Gordon.

Another thing to remember is that the cap increases year to year so Buddy's salary may go up but his percentage of the total cap will remain fairly relative. By the time he finishes up there will be a bunch of other clubs with "Bondi Billionaires" of their own.

Looks like Andrew Ireland mafe another smart call on Buddy though. Salary cap is going to go up by 4.5% not 3% which will reduce his impact on our cap

Yeah, they definitely took the long view with this move. In seven years time our cap will effectively be double what it is this year.

I can't see any links to Smith and Parker interviews. What am I missing? Or more accurately, where am I missing them?
