2 years is an insult, nothing less than 5 years will do

Perhaps you are right. In 1981 Magic Johnson signed a 25-year contract in the NBA for $1 million a year, to start in 1984 when his then current contract was due to expire. So Buddy's contract is just a doddle.

I'm up for it as long as it gives us first dibs on his offspring in perpetuity.

Now that's smart thinking. Hope Jesinta wants a large family with plenty of boys.

Imagine if he married the Aussie Netball defender Laura Geitz at 186cm

now that would have been a serious little child prodigy for netball, basketball or more importantly AFL !!!

He is amazing marketing value. The only player my 4 year old knows is "Franklin". When he sees any AFL game he always says "where's Franklin, had he scored a goal".

We were watching some local Sydney AFL football on Saturday and he calls out to the amusement of bystanders "where's Franklin".

Same with my 4 year old. Everytime he sees the swans on tv or at the ground he says "Is that Lance Franklin?" It was helped by having their photo together on swans fan day at the beginning of the year

More outrage from Eddie - Swans players getting outside assistance!

The bloke has amazing charisma. It must be the tattoos, the swagger, the confidence. My boy knew he was a star the first he saw him!

It's the glamour of the big forward, as much as anything. And of course the size and swagger that generally comes with the big forwards. I remember Swans players relating tales 15 odd years ago of going to visit schools and the kids would look at them and say "Who are you and where is Plugger?" Bazza was the same. The young son of a friend of mine (an occasional attendee at games with me) knew Bazza and no-one else when he was around 3 years old (he's now 10), just from watching bits of games on TV.

"Who are you and where is Plugger?" What a great putdown!

Shouldn't Warrick Capper be on that glamour big forward list? Gerard Healy once said that in 1986-87 he was the second best known sportsman in Australia behind the Greg Norman.

Warrick was also a rock music star with "I only take what's mine" a huge hit.
