Malceski is leading the competition in kicks, and so many are under pressure. It's hard to fault the guy for the odd mistake. We know he has the skill, so it must be the mental pressure that he's under so much that causes a mental lapse sometimes. You have to imagine how he must be concentrating on the opposition coming at him and trying to pick a target to kick to where he can't put all his focus on the execution of the kick. I don't think there's another player on our side that can do it as well, except perhaps Macca.
It's hard to say if Goodes is troubled by knee issues. His field kicking off his right side seems to be okay. I think I recall that he nailed a couple of set shots from around 50 when he first returned from injury. Goodes often likes to make a clever disposal when thinks he can find another player in a better position (like Pyke from last week). But we'll have to keep an eye out for this possible knee problem.Comment

OK ... you can't get the wind and cold vibe from an arm chair ... but ... I'll take our narrow win over Port ... at least we are in the ballpark with the best ... last week was ordinary against an ordinary side ... tonight we played a young side with great potential and beat them easily without IMO playing consistently well ... disposal very ordinary too often ... won't get away with that sort of performance against the big boys. Without those occasional bursts from Buddy it may have been a different story.
Grundy only had about 2 brain fades and is amazing me this year. Parker got a lot of disposals but seemed to muff quite a few.
No room for complacency but I sense there is some.Comment

In fairness to Patton, Buddy had been displaying arrogance for the five minutes before Patton had nailed him. Buddy was chirping at the GWS players (probably telling them that Bondi life is incredible and was he was glad he did not have to train at Homebush).
Buddy then arrogantly palmed off a GWS player on the mark when the umpire called play on. Buddy did not even bother to move left or right, he just stuck out his left hand. He looked like he was toying with GWS and Patton knew that.
Patton stood up for his club and should be congratulated for that even though it did not look good for Swans supporters.
Patton's was a very low act and deserves a visit from the MRP.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I think I'm with Matt on this, I liked it from Patton.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I have never been so cold at a game of footy in my life. I ended up using beer to keep warm so I don't remember too much about the game, although I recall it wasn't too memorable. The wind was biting and it can't have helped disposal efficiency. I'd already been to Henson Park to watch the Jets so it was a long, cold afternoon and evening.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

I've been watching the Adelaide showdown, and when I see the kind of damage Matty White can do with his long runs on the outside I wonder why we don't see more of that from Jetts. On many occasions you see Jetta with 20 or 30 metres of space in front of him and he takes a few steps and kicks long. I like Jetta's game this year, but think he could become elite if would go back to taking the game on more. I remember a few years ago when Horse said that was what he wanted him to do. I don't see why that should stop now.
I look forward to the day seeing Jetta, Benny, Cunningham, Rohan, BJ and Buddy running teams ragged.Comment

The fleeting image I caught looked much worse. If it was just a shove, that's OK and I'll be happy again; just the big boys niggling. He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

I did think our disposal was sloppy but don't recall Malceski being a culprit apart from some careless kickouts. But he had 27 disposals (22 kicks) at 81% - nothing wrong with that. Goodes and Parker went 50% and 53% respectively. We shouldn't be playing Goodes if he can't kick. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment
