Yes we're home now. I think McGlynn or Teddy for BOG. Oops, forgot Parker.

seriously, what does Buddy have to do to get a free kick? This has been going on for weeks.. If an opposition player touches Abblett, Judd or Watson, the umpires immediately blow their whistle, they are protected, but Buddy, the best forward in the game, is treated abysmally.
The Swans must complain to the AFL about the lack of protection given to Buddy. There is a chance that he could get injured because of the umpires lack of care...
Wake up AFL and please complain Swans admin.Comment

We cannot win in the wet. it's as simple as that. Nobody makes adjustments for the conditions and we continue to give umpires opportunities to either give soft frees or make mistakes in favour of the Eagles. Eagles are absolutely "ON" today and it was simply a matter of whether the pressure would make us capitulate like we usually do when the pressure goes on. Round one was identical....right down to 12 point play for no free to Buddy - length of the ground...goal. Followed by another 5 goals. Expect that to happen unless Horse can do something dramatic to change their mindset. Stop the dinky dry weather handballs. Judge when to soccer and when to take posesseion and a tackle. Masten and Priddis giving our inside mids an absolute lesson in decision making and being in the right place to receive the bobbling ball. On top of this we wasted 10 inside 50s either by shocking kicks to defender's advantage (even when one on one) to missing, what was it, 5 kickable shots in a row. Absolutely guaranteed to see the opposition kick the next goal under that sort of performance. Every time the Eagles get the ball free it is length of the ground uncontested sort of stuff and look like scoring every single time.

You are correct...seen it paid many, many times....brain fade by the umps there."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

If you're going to win a trophy, you want to win one like Parker's.
A good grinding win- the first for a few weeks where Franklin wasn't the biggest factor. McGlynn and Richards also very good. The man who laughs has not yet heard the terrible newsComment

That was just about as good a wet weather performance as I've seen the Swans play. Conditions made it hard to establish a gap on the scoreboard but I thought it was pretty smart, direct football and the pressure and tackling were fantastic right up to the end. On a ground that size a team is always going to be susceptible to the odd goal on the break when they push up to pressure as the Swans did. They stepped it up really well at the start of the final term to take the possibility of a tight finish out of the equation.
Parker, McGlynn and Ted - wow! Just wow! Brilliant.
Macca, JPK, Birdy, Smithy not far behind.
And pretty much everyone else was good too, even the young kids who didn't touch the ball much but applied heaps of pressure all around the ground.Comment

Hasn't been mentioned here and the stats won't show it, but Pyke played a fantastic game. We lost the hitouts by a big margin, but won the clearances by a big margin. He was in there all day against 2 regular ruckmen. Also took a couple of good marks.
Good to see we can play wet weather footy. We should have won by a lot more. So many calls in our forward 50 should have been made by the umps, especially after they set the precedent by calling the HTB on Bird early on, even though the ball came out.Comment
