Team Changes
Can't see a lot more than this, with salary to play with.
Think Tippett deal may be reduced as well, to around 600K (with injury issues)
Worry for Membrey, think he can be a good 3rd big to fill in when Adam goes.
I'd hate to see Mal go but if we win a premiership this year I wouldn't be surprised if he does. Two premierships in three years (one off his own boot) would make any player feel pretty satisfied with his career. With his LARS history he probably has another two or three years at the most. Could you blame him for accepting an additional $300-$600k for a three year contract at a lesser club? Football careers don't last forever and a he has a right to take care of his family.

Edited to acknowledge the remarkable feat of kicking his team's first and last goals to win two consecutive Grand Final appearances (2012 and 2014)
So much hate for the Swans. It's kinda fun as long as we don't get distracted. Pure joy would be for us to win the Premiership then score a big-name recruit (Cloke?) and watch Eddie et al explode.
Pendles would be better, apart from being far and away the best player on their list, the only Collingwood player that would fit the no DH policy!
I am really shocked at how undervalued Malceski's role in the team is. I understand the need to call time on a player's time at the club but I really don't think Malceski's case is as cut and dried as some here have posted. Shane Biggs, Zak Jones and Gary Rohan may one day be very good AFL players but the fact is that Malceski is currently a very good AFL footballer, and I don't think we can't afford to cut him loose
Agree 100%. He's having a tremendous year too. I would imagine that he'll stay unless he has some massive money thrown at him from elsewhere that we just can't match. Surely he'd want to remain with us though.

I really agree with this. Losing him and shaw at the same point would be a real problem. But I wouldn't begrudge him for a second going somewhere else and I would think him owing us anything because we kept him on during knee reconstructions is rubbish. The club will call time on him the same as it will anyone else when they think he is done. He is entitled to pursue dollars the same as any person in the labour market. I hope he gets whatever he wants whether it be with us or somewhere else.
Hope he stays personally. But if he doesnt I hope it is as a two time premiership player with the ones (and I vaguel recall him being captain of the twos when they won in 2005 ?)

Why doesnt someone go to BF and start this rumour? I think it would be fantastic fun and then next week we could all hear Damien Barrett announce it as a scoop.

Ugg, perhaps I have misinterpreted people's posts myself as I have not read the same into as you had, however, I myself am a HUUUGE fan of Malceski. He is an absolute gun, having an All Australian year and has consistently been one of our best and most valuable players each year. I would be very disappointed to see him go.
But, we also need to be realistic. Football clubs can not remain idle and expect premierships to happen. In my earlier post, what I was trying to get across is that IF and I mean IF Malceski chooses to leave then I would not lose sleep over it. Reasons - He is nearly 30, we have a great crop of potential youngsters to carry us into the next decade and would prefer they are tied up to longer term deals should Nick choose to move elsewhere for whatever reason.
Mal is an awesome player but I do believe that no one is irreplaceable and Macca, Rohan, Cunningham, Lloyd and Jones who are all very accurate kicks can do the job with play making out of the backline
Laidler and Rampe will get better and better with their kicking and decision making as this season goes on and a pre season
i agree though that Shaw and Mal out in the one year means a massive test of our backs play making but we also have to take into account that Mal and Shaw have generally had the luxurious role of being able to leave their man and set up play
I was lucky enough to play 3 major roles in footy..........attacking loose forward, wing or tagging midfielder........and i must say not having to worry about my player when playing loose forward is a luxury compared to constantly being defensive mindset like Rampe, Smith and Laidler have to do right now
So imagine talented Snr level players like a Macca, Rohan, Harry, Lloyd or Jones who can make a more "Back attacking" role their own - they will kill it !
We could look back in 3 years from now and say that Rohan moving to HBF was the best change we have ever witnessed Kennelly mkII

Agree 100%. I don't think anyone wants to lose Malceski but if one of our players is going to be poached, I think we'd prefer it was him than Kennedy, Hannebery, Parker etc. No knock on Malceski.
