We've had enough McGuire!

Lowlight? Eddie losing $80K - is she a Collingwood supporter?I've just been chatting with someone, who had around twenty years experience as a casino croupier and dealer. Her worst customer in that time? You guessed it: Eddie McGuire. Apparently, one night when the Broadmeadows Battler lost $80,000 was the lowlight of her career.Comment

Though there's probably more dissonance with McGuire; since he tries to maintain the image, of an affable bloke who is still in touch with his working class roots. Whereas with Jones; his persona is more of a bitter, ranting old man, so it's no real surprise, to hear that he shouts at staff and engages in vendettas.Comment

Poor old Ed. No one told him the reason they build casinos is so that when you walk out of them you have less money
in your pockets than you walked in with. If he keeps going back enough times he'll be able to reacquaint himself on
a more permanent basis with his working class roots in Broadmeadow, or whatever "battler" suburb he claims to come from.Comment

On one of the footy shows last night they mentioned how GWS aren't happy with the removal of COLA and that it cost them keeping Shiel and Scully. Their CEO had a go at the Vic clubs for pushing for its removal.
Eddie responded and said that he was in favour of the introduction of COLA but that it should be only for young players on $50,000 and not for Buddy to have 3 maids! This guy is unbelievable!!Comment

Strewth. He's a real Jeckle and Hyde isn't he. So he's now saying we should have COLA, just not to the extent that we had previously? On one of the footy shows last night they mentioned how GWS aren't happy with the removal of COLA and that it cost them keeping Shiel and Scully. The handling of the COLA by the AFL has been atrocious. I think the 10% is a little more than what is required by the northern clubs in order to make them equal with their clubs in football states but 0% leaves us severely disadvantaged, especially now that all clubs have academies.
If the AFL was competent, instead of ripping COLA out from underneath our feet, they would have incrementally reduced the COLA every 3-4 years and periodically assessed its effect on us.Comment
