As a small player Benny cops a lot of rough conduct from opposition players. The MRP today said as below, but having looked at the replay I'm sure there have been plenty of similar contacts penalised. Benny was hit in the throat by Henderson's arm.

"Contact between Carlton?s Lachie Henderson and the Sydney Swans? Ben McGlynn from the first quarter of Saturday?s match was assessed. It was the view of the panel that Henderson?s action was not a striking action and the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken."

I've only seen initial replays and haven't watched it over and over, but I'm a little surprised that Henderson has no case to answer.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Especially considering it was an "Off the Ball" incident.

It was interesting seeing Malthouse spit the dummy at half time at Cameron Ling about channel 7 showing footage of him in the coaches box on the big screen. His team had the momentum and were only 7 points down yet that was his main focus. And after halftime he tried to cover himself up by placing paper on the window.

At the MCG and Etihad they always show the coaches in the box so I wouldn't think the SCG would be any different. I know I heard that the SCG shows the direct feed from channel 7 but still I don't think it would make that much of a difference on the number of times he was shown.

Yes this was one of the worst kind of incidents. This guy ran straight at Benny to get him. He wouldn't have a clue where the ball was. this is why I thought it was worthy of at least 2 matches. It was a hit. Benny has been targeted by almost every team this year. He has been involved in 4 incidents where he has been downed illegally to the side of play or off play. They are definitely targeting him. It is a HIT!!!
