it is funny but i have been mulling over the same idea as Mal plays more the 50% on the wing anyway and Mal only arm grabs like Jetts anyway re defence

just joking both have improved their defensive pressure

Jetta's tackle pressure is excellent but he would have to work on his spoiling and contested marking. But can you imagine having the speed of Rohan and Jetta (replacing Mal and Shaw) running off half back and delivering to Tippett and Buddy? Could be a devastating combo.

Sounds like pure speculation to me. Plus assume we lose one, that would free up money to entice the other two.
Seriously doubt we would lose all three.

At least they can't use the "going home to Victoria" rubbish for Bird and Pyke.

Pyke in my opinion would be the one you would not want to lose. There is depth on the half back line to replace Mal (Towers, Rohan, Jones). There is midfield depth to replace Bird (Mitchell if he decides to stay, Lloyd and Heeney. There are also strong midfield performers in the reserves like Hewitt and Robinson who would relish an opportunity.

Ruck is the big concern, so it would be deviating to lose Pyke. We need he and Tom D around in 2015 to buffer the development of Naismith and Toby N. They should both be ready to commence regular, solid senior football in 2016. The sticking point could be that Pyke wants two years, but the club will only offer year by year.

I'd much rather lose Pyke than Bird. We had a pretty decent record without Pyke this season if I recall correctly. To be honest I think we can play hard ball with him. He's turning 31 next year and hasn't exactly set the world on fire this season. If another club wants to roll the dice and offer him a big multi-year contract that's their risk.

I don't want to start any baseless rumours, but G Ablett's contract is up at the end of the year. Maybe Mal's talks are on hold while the Swans make a play for him. I think I heard it on Big Footy, or read it in a News Ltd newspaper or something.

Maybe they're confused by Pyke wanting to return to Victoria, BC.

If all the rumours come true and we lose Bird, Mal, Pyke and Mitchell this could be our lineup in 2016, also taking retirements into consideration:

I agree that pyke is not a long term solution - but despite the success without him earlier in the season, he is still an integral part of our team. If pyke goes down injured, it would be a huge blow to our premiership chances. If you need a reminder, just look at the 2012 gf to see how immense he can be.

I reckon Bird will stay and that the respective managers are just still wrangling the details of his contract.

Bird sounded really keen beginning of June. See quote/article below.

"I'll leave that to the management group, but I really want to stay at Sydney and just worry about my footy for the rest of the year and let the management group take care of that," Bird said on Friday.

"I really want to stay at Sydney and focus on my footy for the rest of the year."

                                After tonight's performance.....
Bye Bye Pikey. Can't perform against the big men as number one ruck.
