Apparently the membership was at 39971 today with one more day left for people to join for 2014. Don't forget it is also the last day you can upgrade to Premiership Club to ensure a Grand Final ticket if the Swans make the big one
Nice 'thank you' video on Swans site for reaching the target of 40,000. Dane Rampe, with a cheeky smile, gives a special tribute to Buddy for pulling in extra members
I think back to those dark days in the 90s when the club's survival was a day to day proposition.
Thank you so much to all of those who have transformed our club from a basket case to a powerhouse!
I remember going to Darling Harbour one sunny Sunday and they were passing around the plastic bucket for people to donate cash to save the club. I think that time was the lowest of lows - after losing so many games on the trot.
I was a member the very first year the swans played in Sydney. My medallion gave me membership of Maroubra Seals as well. It is wonderful to see how we have progressed.
Well done to the club on reaching such a milestone. I want to see us reach 50,000 in the next few years though - that would be truly a grand achievement in a city like Sydney
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

That is certainly achievable. Be great to see the SGC packed out each fortnight.

My sentiments exactly. I remember buying my membership from the club on the Thursday night before the first game of season 1982. The lady taking my money handed me a membership ticket that was number 35. I thought back then we were doomed and would I have a club to support. Seeing us today with 40000 members makes me marvel at the work done by so many people to get this club to where it is today. Well done to everyone
