AFL's most accurate kick is from NSW (....and it's not Bruest)

Had a sneaky suspicion so I checked the stats. For 10 goals or more the most accurate kick for goal in the AFL (figures include OOB) is......Harry Cunningham :-)

    Cunningham 15.3 - 78.9%
    Bruest 51.9 - 76.1%
    Ablett 24.7 - 72.7%

All others below 70% - Big men as follows

    Vickery 23.10 - 69.7%
    Schulz 54.19 - 62.8%
    Tippett 23.11 - 59.0%
    Roughead 55.34 - 55.6%
    Kennedy 49.31 - 55.1%
    Hawkins 52.32 - 54.7%
    Franklin 61.42 - 53.5%
    Cloke 39.30 - 46.4%

Something doesn't add up - if the goal and behinds are right, they don't match percentages.

    Harry - 15.3 = 83.3%
    Breust 51.9 = 85%

    and Breust as ahead

Unless misses on the full are counted as well

      ...."figures include OOB"

Hard to take away from Breust though, he got away from us.... Worried that we may lose another sharpshooter in Membrey
      Staying ahead of the game...

Figures on afl.com.au do include OOB...don't know if they include 30 metres kicks that go across the face or get punched through. That's why some players have kicked 6 goals, 0 behinds and have a percentage of 83% :-)

While I do find the stats interesting, I could never imagine focussing on collecting stats during a game to the extent required (on Saturday I even lost track of which quarter it was).
Hats off to the stats keepers.

It gets that way when the scoring is so high and the margin between the two teams blows out. Buddy trying to get to double figures, watching the development of the younger players, waiting on another burst of speed through the packs or other acts of brilliance from our team is what draws interest in these games. On the other hand though was hoping that the siren would go sooner so that no further injuries would get inflicted.

I know it is off theme ... but can someone tell me the Malceski effective kick stat? He has a reputation that doesn't line up with some of the poor disposals I see from him.

He is the number one kick (by number) in the AFL.
His disposal accuracy is 73% - the average for the top 20 kicks in the AFL (by number) is 70.1% - he ranks 5th - so he is a touch behind Harvey, Gaff, Stanton and Simpson. His goal accuracy is only 46.2%
Again out of the top 20 kicks (by number) he has the 3rd lowest number of clangers per match at 2.1 - behind only Gaff and Stanton.

BTW Tom Rockliff AVERAGES 32 disposals a game. Can't say I've ever actually noticed him ever in any game I have ever watched. Weird.

Also BTW Shane Biggs is the number player in the AFL in 2014 for average uncontested possessions per game (20) just ahead of Sam Gibson, Jack Macrae and Brandon Ellis

Thanks Sharp9 ... good to see this ... perhaps we sometimes expect too much ... but each week those couple / few clangers stand out as butchering what looked so promising. At times he just has a casual look about things ... but on balance he is a club legend over the journey whatever happens next year.

That's pretty interesting reading...Stanton and Gaff are both regarded as being pretty ordinary kicks so that tells me that they either handball or only go for short, easy options. I wouldn't exactly call Simpson's kicking prodigious, either.

Rockliff is superb for the lions in a poor lions team overall.
