North aren't in the same stratosphere as the top 5 teams. In terms of pressure, last night's game against Essendon looked more like bruise free circle work! Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

Not sure if this is the correct thread for this, but I saw on TV last night (Ed & Derm's lovefest) that the AFL were giving 20% off finals tickets for this game (at least I think it was this game).
Why couldn't they do that in Sydney if they are so concerned about the numbers turning up to Finals here?
Saw in another thread (Prelim Final Venue) that this has been covered.
Apologies everyoneLast edited by YvonneH; 8 September 2014, 07:45 AM.Comment

I should engage brain before putting fingers in motion.
My point still remains if they want numbers up in Sydney.
In Melbourne they could have 35-40K for each team, making a total of 70-80K. In Sydney they could have 35K for Swans and maybe 10K for a Melb based team.Comment

I think we will do exceptionally well to top 50,000 against either the Cats or North. We only got 57K against Collingwood a couple of years ago, and that was with huge hype and a real 'revenge match' feeling. Plenty of North or Geelong fans would not come up, on the hope that they can will be off to the Grand Final the week after. From a numbers point of view, Geelong would be the far preferable opponent, as they have plenty more fans in Sydney than the Norf Ferals."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

I think we'd rather play North Melbourne. They have very little experience in finals, and if we bring what we took into the game against Freo, it'll be a rout. Geelong are also pretty fragile. They caved in to Hawthorn, and it's hard to imagine them recovering anytime soon from the SCG massacre earlier this year. We should just concentrate on getting our guys cherry ripe for whoever we play. And I'm sure that's what Longmire and his mates in the box will be doing. We are in a really good spot to win the GF as things stand right now.Comment

Lets just beat whoever it is that turns up to play us. Focus on what we have control over, prepare well, and the rest will take care of itself.
I don't care either way. Would love to be the ones who end the Geelong "era", and giving North a belting is always good fun.
Bring on anyone, I love this time of the year and even more so when we are in the finals.
Cheers

Yes, they can. The same thing happened when Port demolished Blues. Everybody thought that Freo couldn't win the following week, but they demolished Port. This shows how bad Tigers were and how they can't be an indication how good the Port really is. I wish we didn't loose to Tigers so that the Port would have faced WC instead. I'm sure that the game wouldn't be like walk in the park.Comment
