Yes, 1993 was a great year for the club. I was so excited by our one win (against Melbourne, Richard Osborne kicked 10) I signed up
as a member for the 1994 season. Last year we went to the 20 year member recognition function and I was very surprised to see
about 200 people there. All obviously anticipating the arrival of Roos, Plugger and Stuey Maxfield in 1995. Heady times!

      Very informative there, neilfws..

        Everyone loves a winner!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Be interesting to understand what is driving the interquartile range

Have a look at the length of the actual red boxes, the middle 50%.

You'll see that sometimes they are really long meaning that there was a lot of variation in crowd sizes.

Sometimes the range is really narrow meaning that the crowd numbers were around the same each round. Probably just the diehards.

Thanks. Very interesting. In 1993 the diehards must have known each other by name!

Just to confirm, these cover SCG attendances only as the heading says? So does not include ANZ?

Correct. Happy to generate charts with ANZ too if you like! I figured SCG-only was "cleaner data" for the purposes of this post.

Would be interesting to have a second chart including ANZ to see time comparison of Swans total home match attendances (as data goes back to pre ANZ seasons).

Just for you then. ANZ is referred to as "Stad. Aust." by the keepers of the data.

I think points works better than boxes for this chart. What's interesting is that 2014 is the first year since we started using ANZ where it does not have the biggest crowds.

Thanks that's great and very interesting, including your comment about this year. This could be a result of scheduling, for example the Geelong match this year might have been the largest crowd whichever venue had been used. If it is easy to do (don't worry if this request is a pain) could you use all the data from the second chart to produce a box chart like the first one, but not differentiating between the venues? I expect at least one, probably more, of the ANZ crowd numbers would be 'outliers'.

ANZ only got one game which I would call a blockbuster this year. The Hawks game.

The other games were v Collingwood when we had hardly won a game at the start of the year, and v Richmond in a dead rubber for us.

However, Bit of work to do to get it up to the 60,000 level it should be. I reackon the loss of the "3 game ANZ pass" has hurt crowds since it was dropped a couple of years ago.

Collingwood was Round 2! Technically you could say we had a 0% winning record.

                              or a 100% losing record.

I'll be charging consultancy fees soon Sure, we can do boxes for combined SCG + ANZ, then overlay the points to see where the ANZ games fall.
