As I said in another thread, I don't care which opponent we get if we make to the GF, as long as we win it. It is time for Hawthorn to do some hard yakka in the PF, regardless whether they're playing Freo (most likely) or Port (less likely). I don't think Geelong was a real test for them. Freo/Port will be.

If we win the premiership I can live with that.

Yes this year with all the media beat up by Eddie and his concubines calling us the Bondi Billionaires the majority would love us to lose. It is a media beat up to end all media beat ups. The 'let's hate the Swans' is huge in Victoria all because of a few small minded, little dicked men.

You presume we will win the preliminary final. There will be another side fighting us to make a GF you know. Don"t be too cocky, that is when things fall in a hole. We need to win the PF to make the GF and a showdown with whoever makes it to the other spot yet. We are not Collingwood supporters or Port supporters please act like Sydney supporters and treat the opposition with respect. By the Pies/Port reference I mean they have the GF won the first week of the finals. Earlier in the year Port fans I know, ones who followed the SA Port as well, had them in the GF by round 10.

I'm not cocky or in firm believe we would in GF. I was just responding to people about who would they like to meet in GF. I'm quite aware that we need to win the PF before we can worry about our opponent the week after.

The opinions of supporters won't affect the outcome of the match. So what's the problem in being confident that we can go through to the GF? I don't have the stats in front of me, but history shows that the the team with the week off has an overwhelming advantage to go through to the final.

Yes, you're correct. I've checked the stats for the period from 2000, when the current system was introduced and can confirm that majority of teams having a week off before a PF had advanced to GF with the following exceptions:
                  2003 Sydney (lost to Brisbane)
2005 St Kilda (lost to Sydney)
2006 Adelaide (lost to West Coast)

Coincidently, all above three winners won premierships the following week. I'm not making any predictions, but as Ludwig was saying, the week off is giving us great advantage to make a GF.

Even if we did beat Hawthorn they would still come up with some excuse. In 2012 it was "the swans didn't win it , hawks lost it." This year it would be "the swans took Buddy because of COLA blah blah blah".

Agree with others, don't want to jinx us! In 2005 the saints thought they just had to turn up. In 2012 the hawks thought they had it...(Not the players but definitely the supporters).

They may well do, but the trophy will still have our name on it!
